tunerlover3 Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 My friend (supercharged regal) and his other friend (l36 GP) came over to the apartment to hang out for a while with the usual gang. I get introduced to this kid (GP) and I see a DHP scanner and laptop in his car. Well about an hour later of tuning (for free!) I absolutely love my car!!!! We first took it out for a drive with the base ZZP tune and never had knock, but was running PIG rich. Now I have a slightly bit of knock for only a split second. We changed: - Increased timing by 3 degree's from 2000 to 3200RPM. - Increased timing by 6 degree's from 3200 to 6400RPM. - Toque Management was at ZERO....changed that to at least 5% for now. - Decreased amount of time between shifts. - Increased line pressure just a little. - Didnt change fuel or anything because the car is already running rich as f*ck. My long and short term fuel trims are at zero almost all the time (during WOT) If anybody on this board has a ZZP PCM, go find somebody with a tuner quick. They TAKE AWAY TQ management! Which is a hard part killer for your trans. I only added 5% so Ill see what happens. Stock is 20%. I learned so much about tuning last night and it was so much fun. Its cool too because its a performance increase I can actually feel and notice the difference. The car pulls A LOT harder. Quote
89SupremeCutty Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 sweet deal! can't go wrong for free. i've been wanting to get hp tuners, but right now i can't afford it and having a 3100 dosn't really justify getting one. if i had a 3800, then yea i would save up for it. Quote

You apparently havent driven a 3x00 that has been tweaked with HPT. Spending $600 on it was the best money I have spent on my car. Quote
tunerlover3 Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 So I played a little more today lol Added more timing at the low end and the car took it like a slut. I had at the most 2 degrees KR and it was just a blip on the laptop. Quote

tornado_735 Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Can you tune any w-body? The OP is speaking a language I don't understand, lol Quote
88red4cyl Posted July 30, 2009 Report Posted July 30, 2009 Can you tune any w-body? The OP is speaking a language I don't understand, lol Not the 94-95 OBD-1.5's... If you upgrade the car to OBD-II you can, but OBD-1.5 is pretty much untuneable... Quote
tunerlover3 Posted July 30, 2009 Author Report Posted July 30, 2009 Can you tune any w-body? The OP is speaking a language I don't understand, lol What? How did I confuse you? You can tune pretty much any W body that has OBD2. Quote

I just use a super common 97 Lumina 3100 PCM as it gives you an accurate base map, as compared to using a 3400 U-van PCM Quote

I have a 1997 Monte Carlo 3100 Computer ready to be put in.. I was told by ZZP (i think) that its best to swap in the 97 3100 computer.. he gave me a list of reasons why.. But i got it and ready to install before it gets tuned.. Quote
