DavidHowell3633
So many times, I have been cruising along and check my tach to see it way above where it should be. I used to come to a complete stop and reboot- turn the car off and restart and resume. Then, CrazyK mentioned just flicking the ign sw off and on while at speed, coasting, and that temporarily resolved the od problem and saved me time. I even took the NSS apart and cleaned it all up once. I installed a trans cooler and thought I had fixed the problem- it did help. But, I think, I may have finally solved my car's problem with the over drive failing to hook up. Again, this probably fixed mine- yours may be different. I'm talking about the Neutral Safety Switch. I read a thread referring to adjustment/alignment that said, "I just make sure my backup lights work in reverse." Mine did. But, a month ago I was adjusting my NSS so it would start in neutral as well as Park. This requires some patience and trial if you work alone. Getting the alignment on the switch fine tuned is the key since something catches it and prevents it from being moved as far as it should. For me, once I adjusted the NSS to start in neutral, my overdrive works consistently. It has been a month now and no problems. I see no reason why this would matter looking at the wiring diagrams. But, I am no EE. I post this in hopes you may find it useful.

spiderw31
You forgot to tell him to add a tranny cooler. I'm guessing that's because he it was already mentioned that a cooler had been installed ... I installed a trans cooler and thought I had fixed the problem- it did help... DavidHowell3633
The last change (NSS adjustment to start in neutral) in a long succession of mods has apparently fixed the problem. Sorry if I confused you.
