Tranny shifting hard and weird engine noise??

This has happened to me twice now. Out of nowhere, my Intrigue's engine has this very different sound to it, and the transmission starts shifting really hard. It starts up fine, and did everything like normal, but then once you listen to the engine, or start driving and feel the tranny shifting, you know something's wrong. The transmission shifts as if there's almost no fluid in it. Tranny fluid is fine, and the symptoms went away by shutting the car off, turning to the on position 3x and then starting it again, but I don't know why it's doing this. I'm thinking some kind of a sensor going bad?? Anyone have any ideas???

It's as if the engine has a deeper sound.

No idea what this might be.

But, you might check the vacuum hose that runs to the transmission.

if this is an 01 intrigue... it has a 4t65e, and will not have a vacuum modulator.

 

 

 

you should probably do a pan drop and change the filter and fluid to see if that benefits you.

almost sounds like the TQ is staying locked. could be a sign of bad things to come.

no, it never came on either. Ever since that happened I haven't had it occur again, and it runs, drives and shifts fine now. Like I said, just out of no where, it randomly happened. I don't know if it was maybe a computer thing or a bad sensor... I don't recall doing anything different while driving or starting it the 2x this happened.

IIRC when a 4t65e gets the TQ stuck on, it will ramp up line pressure to maximum to, in theory break a suck TCC free.
