Since i have a '96 Monte LS I am planning on making it handle better since there isn't much I can do to make it faster. :frown: I already have my own home made STB's and tires. Both of which work great so now i want to get some larger sway bars. I know Z34's have a larger rear sway bars but i don't know about the front. Is there a difference? Can i just replace the bushings or do i need to get new mounting brackets to put them in?

I know for 1st gens (probably the same on yours) for the front 34(?)mm Z34 bar you need the bushing and brackets.

You would be shocked at how much they make for 3X00's. Plus god knows how many upgrades you can get from w-bodys at the J/Y.

I was at the JY last weekend and I saw a black Monte LS with the 7/8 in rear sway bar. There was no mistaking it and it appeared to be an original part... it was rusted to hell too. The struts looked original so I would say that is another sign the bar was from factory. I didn't check RPO codes because the car was surrounded by an ocean 80% the way around.

Point being... I always thought the 7/8 was on Z34 montes... this says maybe not so.

so is the front a larger diameter or does it have thicker walls/solid? im only asking because if the front is the same im not going to bother changing it thinking that i will be getting a better piece

The front 34mm sway bar is hallow...

As for what else you can do, depends on how much you want to spend...

the gen 1 and gen 1.5 cars have the same front suspension. 34mm bar is the biggest there is

as for the rear... any 95 gen 1.5 car with a 3.4 is supposed to have the larger rear swaybar.
