mmltml Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 a few people over at mymonte have painted their interior trim pieces, and i would like to start by painting the fake wood trim on the dash and doors. a person over there says that she hasn't sanded those pieces because once you sand them the original clearcoat on them is nearly impossible to get even again. she just cleans them real well, uses a few coats of primer and paint and a LOT of coats of clear coat to protect it. should i trust this method? is it gonna be reasonably durable? jeremy Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 you should have painted them some shade of gunmetal/grey/black Quote
digitaloutsider Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 :word: That would have looked pretty nice. Quote
sloick Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 i kind of like how it matches the car. its nothing i would have done though. Quote
mmltml Posted July 20, 2009 Author Report Posted July 20, 2009 i think it would look MUCH better if my interior was black instead of gray, but i've been considering picking up some black door panels from a junkyard...but i still like it and i've gotten alot of compliments on it. i tried carbon fiber vinyl before i painted them and it looked kinda crappy and i didn't like it because blended in with the dash and i wanted something to stand out...and it helps that its the same shade of red as the rest of the car. but thanks for the thoughts Quote
