Marcus18 Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 at full throttle/full boost my car was mising/losing power so I thought it was a spark problem so... I replaced the plugs......no change I replaced the coils... no change I thought about the suggestion about wastegate flutter(never knew what it was) I figured that means the actuator isn't strong enough to keep the gate closed. so I grabbed a wire clothes hanger and wired it closed. I took off and was at fuel cut around 3000rpm. now before when I took the vacume line off the actuator it didn't do that. it went alittle higher in boost but was still fluttering at high boost. so what should I do buy a new actuator? where to buy it? that sound like whats wrong? marcus Quote
Chris A Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Did you replace the wires too? Quote
TGPilot Posted September 7, 2003 Report Posted September 7, 2003 Did you replace the wires too? Higher load on the engine with bad wires will definitely cause a cut with nothing noticeable at lower RPMs or lower boost levels... 8) Quote
Marcus18 Posted September 8, 2003 Author Report Posted September 8, 2003 well I was inspecting the plug wires that go to the back and found nothing. after moving them around abit I went for a test drive and was going to test something else and .........no problems! I'm going to change the rear plug wires as some as I get some money. I must have moved them into a position that there not arching. I have more power than ever in the top end. I have slight problems since the first day I drove it, but it wasn't as noticable. now I have power until it hits the floor! I have one more mod I want to do then it's to the track. marcus Quote
Jeff M Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 Nice troubleshooting work Chris and Kenny, guys like you give me the break I need to focus on all the much needed fun parts for TGP and TSTE owners 8) As for plug wires, would of suggested that one also along with the rest that was replaced since this is a 13 year old car and any would need some attention to parts getting worn out by now, makes sense and replacing the coil packs and/or ignition module is a good investment for power and reliability now and less problems with these down the road. Another thing on plug wires, its a trick to get them for sure onto the plug tips, hearing and feeling that soft "Click" that they are on is the key though not always easy to hear or feel :? . PaPaPooh Posted September 8, 2003 Report Posted September 8, 2003 it would be better to get all 6 wires instead of just the back 3!!! Quote
