Stevo
Is anyone familiar with this exhaust package from GM? What brand is it and does anyone have any specs on it (pipe size)? http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?singlepart=1&partnumber=12498617 The dealer will sell the same item for $762.80 +tax (for my GTP) which is a hell of a lot better than the quote I had for $830 +tax for a run of the mill replacement of the Y pipe, 2 small lengths of pipe, 2 stock mufflers and 2 muffler tips. Stevo
I don't want to make anything by hand. I want a system that is already designed for my vehicle. Can anyone answer my questions above?
91LuminaEuro
At my dad's garage we have dealt with similar exhaust packages. For different vehicles, Chevelle, A few different rucks (GM, Ford and Dodge) as well as for a neon and for a grand am. In ALL cases, the exhaust was not a perfect fit, it was poorly made and required a lot of extra tweaking. We will no longer install these types of exhaust packages because it takes more work to make them fit, than it would for us to custom bend a system for the car. Just a heads up, like i said, i have never dealt with this specific system so maybe its different? Hopefully some one here can chime in with some helpful information, but be sure to do lots of re-search, if you're looking for a perfect direct fit with no modifications. good luck! swift13
well it is saying for specific Ws so looks like it sounds good to me. I havent put and exhaust on any my Ws yet but i did get a gibson cat back for my truck when i had it cost like 350$ and and it wasnt S.S. so for that price i would say it sounds good. Stevo
You guys in the states have to understand that anything from the US purchased in Canada for some reason is 2-3x the price. To get back on the subject, I have searched the net on this cat-back system. Can anyone fill in the blanks on the product?

Euro
Yeah I don't think that's a very good deal, and it is the GMPP exhaust. Buy it for the price on GMPD, $480 is pretty good for a catback!!!! SLP's are $500 IIRC.
J
if it were corsa it'd be a great deal. Why not buy a SLB exhasut? $830 for replacement exhaust?!/!?!?!? They better kiss you after they're done fucking you!
sloick
not to knock anyone but i dont see why simple concepts are so blown out of proportion. all it is is exhaust piping. there is nothing to it. especially after the cat. nice muffler(s) and tip(s) i can see being important to someone, or in the extreme replacing stainless with stainless. but why spend so much? its like an intake for a car. cooler air makes more efficent power. all of the sudden you have guys throwing a cone filter on the throttle body 3" away from a crossover pipe thinking its making 20hp more. K.I.S.S. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!
Andrew
my only concern with the GMPP kit is that it doesnt say if its mandrel bent or not. if not, i'd pass.

They better kiss you after they're done fucking you! Come to Canada. Exchange your money for 120% and see how far it gets you when your paying 2-3x here what you pay at home. $830 for a pipe from the resonator, Y pipe, 2 small pipes, 2 mufflers and 2 tips. I went and bought 2 Flowmasters from a guy on ebay for $150, 2 Tips for $20 and had the Y pipe fabbed for about $60. The Y pipe came apart (no surprise at the welds) over a year later and had to be replaced. To buy anything like what your talking about here it would cost a small fortune, easily over a grand for the cheapest, most likely from the place I mention above @ $830. Here is the Email that I received from GMPartsdirect.com about the product that I am asking about. Hi Steve, I am sorry, we do not have access to the information requested. Thanks Floyd, GmpartsDirect.com When replying to emails please include all previous email correspondences so we can better assist you. Thanks for not know shit about what your selling...Floyd.
