timbit_69
Ok well... i am sitting in the Drive thru line at the Local Tim Hortons and i hear a buzzing that i can feel in the floor... i am thinking the AC compressor, or pover steering. but when i let the brake go to move ahead it dissapears. so i do a little test, i put the car in 1st/low gear and the noise stops, so i put it in 2nd and the buzzing comes back... i now am thingking the 1/2 clutch plate ???? or what else could it be???? I poped the hood and the sound is comming from the tranny... Help PLS... i don't want to have to replace it.
dkorinko
I have the same noise, but it is only when I use the lower gears, like the "2, 1". When i am in drive it is fine so that is what I have been doing, but I do want to know what the hell the sound is and maybe what it means! TGPilot
I would be curious to know what that noise is also...because my TGP did it and a Bonneville SSEi with 4T60-e and the Sunbird GT Turbo with a TH125 did it also. It sounds like a relay squakin under the hood right? 8)
dkorinko
Mine is more like a winding noise, it could almost be mastaken for a supercharger winding.
mfewtrail
sounds like you've got a problem w/ the diff..maybe it's about to be hurled out of the transaxle casing? anyways....I believe thats what has happended to some when hearing the described noise, or at least their trannies died on them shortly afterwards. timbit_69
Mine is a buzzzing but not a constant one... more like: bzzzzz ---- bzzzzz ----- bzzzz to best describe the sount is like when a clutch plate in an 5-speed etc. is either warped or is sooo worn that your grinding the rivits from the plater to you flywheel... but it's not that loud... a junk yard in my area is having a deal right now for free engine swaps.... if they have the same engine you do they will do the swap. but the engine had to be out all ready... but if i wanted a L67 (there are 3 with 1000km-34000km, on them at the yard). i would only have to pay the diffence between the engine sizes est.$275 that includes the tranny and all the stock wiring harnesses ant stuff... so i might be looking into it really soon. Baddflash
mine does the wirring kind of sound only when i put it in 1st it does't do it any other time. I seriously doubt it is a sign of a tranny ready to blow cause mine has done this ever since i bought it over 100,000k ago. I think it's possibly :? the shifter cable pushing the shift lever too far and binding something????? It doesn't bother me enough and I've seen many other cars doing it, I'll wait till it grenades then worry about it.
Bolt_Crank
when I put my 4T60-E into 1st, (due to a slight vacuum leak...) you can hear it sucking a massive amount of air, less in 2nd, and less than that in Drive and so on. supreme_style21
My '92 Lumina made that buzzing noise in 1st/2nd gear.. Kinda reminded me of a giant mutated bee under my car. The noise was there for the 80,000 miles I owned it.. never developed into any problems.
PaPaPooh
my 89 cutty makes a contunious type buzz. i have found out it is the a/c compressor cause when i turn the a/c off it goes away i would get a handleless screw driver like robby does and use it as a stethascope (sp?) and hunt the noise down hope this helps good luck
