when i accelerate using 50% or more throttle, my car seems to surge or loose a little bit of power off and on again. what could that be? its a 97 cutlass with a 3100.

well the check engine light is on and i scanned it and it said cyl. 1 misfire. but the plugs and wires are new, and the coil had about 6k ohms resistance...same as one of the new coils on it. so i don't know what else it could be?

ICM is a possibility.

is that "idle control motor"? but it does it when its not idling, that thing is only used when the car is idling.

I have about 5 spares in my garage if you need one. And if those bottles of injector cleaner dont make a difference, it means your fuel system is clean and running good. dont put more in. Those burn HOT.

lol, true enough.

But if there's one close by, most auto parts stores can test them. They will need to run the tests multiple times in a row to check if it's bad.

Or you could try getting a good used one from a junkyard.

A leaking intake can also cause that. It sucks air, basically a vacuum leak for that cylinder and it lean misfires.

grr..i hope not, i hear there a pita to change the gaskets on.
