wickedbuick
Hey everyone, I am at a point where headers are a must and I have seen several options out there for the L67. I've got everything in my sig and maybe a few things I haven't updated. Last track run was 13.5 in the quarter and I want 12's by end of season or early 2010 season. Getting them to fit a 1st gen w-body is the challenge. I know about the cutting/bangin the firewall to fit them. I have also looked into getting a custom set made to fit and Mike at Milzy Motorsports is getting ready to make some prototypes for these cars. QUESTION: Of all the kits for the 2nd gen cars, what one fits with the least amount of work/hassles? I've seen several cheap sets on Ebay but then seen people posting on 3800pro.com about having to spend $300+ dollars to make them seal/fit better. Just looking for some clues and possibly someone has already done this project to chime in with experiences.
wickedbuick
Has anyone done an l67/l32 swap on a first gen wbody and upgraded to headers? Even if custom ones were used, who made them and whats the cost? Otherwise what are the best ones to use that are on the market? I obviously want the least expensive but if SLPs for example are the easiest install, I will pay for them. I want something with the LEAST headaches I am not opposed to cutting/modifying the car. I just want a set that I have to do the least modification or custom ones that require no modding. Thanks, Deia
RobertISaar
i want to say pacesetter, but it's a cloudy answer... but going into a first gen, i expect there will be issues...
wickedbuick
I know it's gonna be some work without custom ones but Mike at milzy motorsports cut his firewall to fit a set of SLP's and worked out fine. Just a lot of labor. I just wondered what might be the set that will require the least amount of work in modding the firewall. I live within 20miles of Milzys shop and he is starting prototypes for headers. Starting price is rumored around $1000 though and that is starting to be a little too high..... wickedbuick
Ok I just saw these on Ebay....... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/97-03-PONTIAC-GRAND-PRIX-GTP-3-8L-HEADER-EXHAUST-98-99_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a15Q7c66Q3a2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem2c4fd6a93fQQitemZ190318029119QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories Has anyone heard of these or have them?? Does anyone know sizes of primary tubes or any other dimensions?
RobertISaar
chinese knock-offs of real headers, you know the ones that cost 600+... those will have more fitment/durability issues than anything.
BXX
Yes, please quit supporting these fuckin junk chinese headers. Not only do they suck, they rip of the design of someone who took time to make a quality part..
wickedbuick
I don't support them as I havn't bought them I was just asking of the options and mentioning the low budget ones I found just in case. I am happy to spend the money on SLPs. I just want to know what's the easiest of the options. Milzy Motorsports is making a set for 1st gens but starting around $1000. I'm just trying to figure out if there are $400 worth of headaches or should I just wait for custom ones that I don't need to mod anything major. When I'm shopping I look for anything that says "Made in the USA" when I can find it.
