Mother FUCKER. i feel better now. The dam hose just broke about two hours ago. i was going to the mechanic to weld on my new muffler and he told me to come back in a hour  so i went back home. came back and he raised my car to do the muffler job. i went under it to check out the condition of my under body and saw something leaking  . i took a closer look and ask the mechanic and told me it looks like power steering fluid. then i trace my steps and saw a nice trail of fluid outside. after he finish the muffler job he lowered the car filled her up with fluid raised it and told me to turn the wheel. then told me it was the power steering pressure hose. i ask him how much he said $250. then i told him ill try to do it myself. i stop by auto zone and pick the last hose and it only cost $25 now has anyone had any experience on changing this hose? it is hard to do? how long would it take?

hi or low side?

OR... the part with the loop that goes around the front of the frame or the other line?

is not the one that goes to the front. is the one that has two metal parts and a rubber part connects them. it goes from the pump to the rack

that's the high pressure line. pre-soak the end at the rack with pb blaster before starting, and vic grips will most likely be your friend to pull the line. you may have to tilt the engine or remove a tire for clearance. I've had to do the same line myself before...

do i have to take out the bolt in front of it(guessing the return line) to get to the back one? i have no room to turn anything. i took of both tiers and pushed to engine foward and nutttin. do i have to lower the frame? if so how do i do so? if i canr do it im guess im going to have to take it to the mechanic.

i think I had to come in from above, myself...

try finding a small saw or dremel tool and cut the line off the fitting at the rack, then you should be able to use a 18mm socket and ratchet to easily take it off.

Well i got it out and now I'm driving my lumina again  i started working at 9am i keep trying to use vice grip but it kept sliding. after almost an hour i got an idea about cutting the hose and using a socket but i had two problems i did not have a small enough saw to cut the dam thing and second the nut had been really raped by the vice grip. so i put the Belt back on connected the first hose and started the car on the stands. then i filled up with power steering fluid and started turning left and right once the hose was hot (and everything else around it Dam exhaust pipe and heater hose kept burning me) i turn the car off i then took off the first hose and when i was clamping down on the nut the freaking thing got loose and i went :willynilly:. then after that it was pretty straight forward. it took me more time cleaning up than replacing the hose after the nut was off. this was the first time i leave my car over night without finishing a job. but it was worth it i was not going to pay $250 to the mechanic and miss a day of work.

Dammit i wish you guys would have posted this information yesterday i would have gone to get a tiny saw and save hours and hours of fighting with a bolt.
