Rear inside tire cupping, 04 Monte Carlo

New to the board but have had W-bodies before. They were monoleaf, now I have coil-over.

This 04 Monte Carlo is the SS SC car if that matters on rear suspension. When I got it at 43K, the rear tires were shot on the inside. I was a little lazy and just replaced the tires all the way around. Car drove great so I just kept riding.

Found out yesterday the front hub bearings are a little sloppy and this is probably causing some of the movement I see from the steering wheel with the now cupped tires on the front of the car. What really causes the cupping on the inside of the rear tires? Is it just alignment or something else back there that needs to be addressed. Car now has 60K miles on the ticker.

I've seen consistent cupping with tires that were not rotated frequently enough. if the are cupped only on the inside.....

Hve you ever had the alignment checked?

No, I really need to but I probably need to change the front wheel hubs before wasting my time. These tires had been on the rear for about 11K after 6K on the front. Seeing that written out I see they were on the rear way too long.

Wasnt' sure the alignment was the only issue and the tires are pretty cheap Generals that I got no company discount.

Plan on doing the wheel hubs in the next two weeks then off to get an alignment. Any predictions on other parts bad?

Thanks for the quick reply. :burnout:

Car feels stuck to the road. No bounce from the rears or fronts. I think this is just user error on tire rotation now.

Must be better about this.
