91LuminaEuro
Alrighty, so i don't kno if most of you payed attention to the whatever thread when my mufler fell off last week...but it did. It rusted away from the rest of the exhaust right at the end of the muffler. I was originally gonna use a 40 series FLowmaster, but my dad had gotten a couple "thunderbolt" mufflers, which we were told by the supplier, that they are made by flowmaster, and designed basically identical, its just that they were branded differently, and slightly cheaper. (spot welds instead of solid welds on most inner components) I know that going cheap isnt always good. But, it was FREE so i decided to give it a shot. I would have probably rather had a flowmaster, but this one was FREE and supposedly identical other than typical cost shortcuts. (or at least this is what they told us) My dad let me have this one for free, to try out and see how they sounded on a V6 car such as my Lumina. I also threw on a stainless tip, just for shits and giggles! Also, all i did was change the muffler, the exhaust is factory stock including the cat ( i think it was replaced but with stock replacement stuff) So im sure with some bigger pipes, and a high flow cat it would sound better. VID IS HERE CHECK IT OUT YO! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElpmzOloIyg I also added the 3rd brake light decal to my car. I think its sweet. Check out my Decals and More thread for prices! Or PM me! Euro
Looks nice! That's what I did with my Lumina, just had a Dynomax welded to the stock piping. Sounded great, especially when the muffler rusted out 4 years after
boymeetspavement
My votes to lose the exhaust tip and swap it for a dual tip one, it would look much much better imo.
91LuminaEuro
I agree a dual tip would have probably looked better, but the tip was also free. Plus, i like it, it does stick out slightly too much for my liking, but its not enough to really bother me! So for now, free >not free lol

jake91
sounds great at idle not a fan of how it sounds when reved up its a bit raspy, and as others have said that tip sucks., but overall not bad
91LuminaEuro
Yeah I'm not a fan of that raspy crap. However, when the car warms up it goes away. On a cold start its there, but after 10 or so mins of driving, its completely gone and its got a nice sound. I'll have to get a vid of it when its nice and warm. Lumineer
I agree that since the muffler and tip were free, it doesn't hurt to put 'em on, and I actually like the tip, to be honest. But IMO, that sound is horrendous. Idle sounds okay, but revving that thing sounds like a weak tin can of beans Go to your local salvage/junk yard and find a stock exhaust setup that's been rusted through. THAT'S the ultimate 3.1 exhuast I had an exhaust leak developing on my Lumina base model back in the day and it sounded pretty cool, with a deep rumble. It's hard to hear, but here's an in-car camera view of my car while I accelerated from a stop. I had the camera in the passenger seat though, so you won't see anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8EquHKhj_U
LuminaPower92
Sounds good, on mine i have dual flowmaster 40 series with a high flow cat. I have vids if interested.
jake91
the cats make a differnce in sound for sure. when i heard nick's car (the 91) he told me that the exhaust was stock except for the cat. which was off of i believe a 98 gtp? but it sounded great
91LuminaEuro
Yeah i agree, that the raspy sound is FTL. Im used to it, because my old muffler was fairly rusted on the inside, so i got alot of that. However, like i said once the car warms up, that goes away with the new muffler. I almost put a high flow mini cat on, but that would have actually cost money.....and then i woudl have just wanted to run larger pipe the whole way back the car..which would have been more money...and i decided it just wasnt worth it right at this moment lol. I'll take another video, maybe sunday of the car once its warmed up and the rattle goes away! (DMB concert is tomorrow and i have a derby saturday so sunday is the soonest i'l get to it lol.)
