kuntzie
since the ass end of my car feels like poo as they are soft as hell (sprint springs) i want to do coilovers... the downfall to this is that the rear sway bar is attachedto the strut housing andit would have to be eliminated (unless the 04+ suspension is different on the rar, then i could use that if its better) but adding STB and the rear stiffness from the coilovers, how much of a drawback would this be? my understanding is that some 97+ w-bodies didnt even come with a rear swaybar from the factory
xtremerevolution
Big difference. You cannot replace a sway bar with lowered/stiffer springs and expect the same handling ability. The rear end will be WAY too loose.
kuntzie
i plan on using 450# or 500# springs for the setup... so its going to be stiff back there at it is... i talked to westcoastfabricators (held motorsports) and he says for his he makes a metal bracket that comes up from the strut bolts (and attaches up top aswell i believe) but he says alot of peopl order witout them. his price is $350 for the rears, no struts... i can make the rears for like 150 myself, without the bracket and without the modified rear mounts, which i can do myself aswell.. i think i should just pay the 350 and call it a day, no guess work or measuring needed this way. xtremerevolution
Yeah, definitely get brackets so that you can continue using the sway bar. Especially with the amount of power you're putting down, a sway bar is essential unless you drive in a straight line all day long.
