Also, I believe they flow 22lb stock? would anyone be able to tell me the part number for the correct ford yellow top injectors? (and what cars have them?) thanks guys! White93z34
Injectors for what?? There are lots of different injectors I could give you PNs for.
mfewtrail
I have no clue what the stock injector part # is, but I can check the injectors themselves to see if they're printed on them for you sometime tomorrow. The ford yellow tops are in a ton of Fords(mustangs, t-birds w/ the 5.0/4.6's, grand marquis', crown victorias, etc.). Depending on what year of those vehicles you're looking at, you will find different "designs" of the yellow tops and various part #'s over the years. Here's a visual aid(the bodies will be black from the factory, those were reconditioned/cleaned, so the bodies were primed or spray painted gray): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SB-Fuel-Injectors-19LB-Mustang-4-6-V8-1996-04_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1205Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem1c02db9031QQitemZ120307028017QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I have no clue what the stock injector part # is, but I can check the injectors themselves to see if they're printed on them for you sometime tomorrow. please do! I will have to do a teardown and inspection of a TGP motor I have been storing. The ford yellow tops are in a ton of Fords(mustangs, t-birds w/ the 5.0/4.6's, grand marquis', crown victorias, etc.). I already have a set of 94 LQ1 injectors, they are 21lb injectors by comparison. would those be fine? has anyone tried them? info: http://wiki.60degreev6.com/index.php?title=Fuel_injector_ratings
mfewtrail
Ken, the Ford injectors are rated at a lower pressure than the GM ones. I had a set from one car cleaned/flow tested before and going by the conversion numbers the company that tested them for me told me to use, they flowed 21.8lbs/hr @ 43.5psi. The Ford "19lb" injectors are capable of supporting 300hp(crank) or so without a problem.

I hung out with a ford guy at the j/y two days in a row... and we looked and saw several "yellow tops" so I guess I might be grabbing those ford injectors then? I'd like to get a solid part number for them if possible, to make sure I am grabbing correct ones as well. (or I guess I could research once I find out if they have a number?) I learned that there are 5.0 HOs and regular HOs on friday. I need to determine whether any of these is a suitable donor... thanks!
mfewtrail
Here's one part # for the yellow tops: 0280150943. I don't believe this longer part number is printed on them though, there's a shorter 6-7 digit number printed near where the connector plugs in on them IIRC. I just remembered I still have a few yellow tops in my storage building sitting beside my TGP injectors. I'll grab the numbers off those as well when I look tomorrow. EDIT: Witchhunter performance has a huge list of injector flow rates by part #(the ford injectors are made by bosch by the way). http://www.witchhunter.com/injectordata1.php4 Scroll down to Ford on that list and look at the part # examples they give. That's what is printed on the Ford injectors instead of the longer part number I listed above. I think the ones I have are "F0TE-D5B." Crazy K
Don't mind me, for some reason late last night I could swear this was posted in the General section. you = epic fail! UPDATE: I have a single loose yellow-top injector from a 5.0... it is coded: 0280 150 556 F0TE-D5B = vs the one you posted: 0280150943. F0TE-D5B different part number, same part code, same/similar specs? MORE INFO: http://www.rceng.com/technical.htm To convert cc / min to lbs. / hr. - Divide by 10.5 210 cc / 10.5 = 20lbs/hour? mfewtrail
Depending on what you use for the specific gravity of gasoline(to get your conversion number), you end up with different lb/hr readings. Some conversions use "9.71" instead of 10.5. The injectors out of my '90 TGP were part # 17086981(printed on the top of the body). Kenny designed his "hot tune chip" which gives you an increase of 40-45% more power than stock using yellow top injectors in his car for what it's worth. My Jeff M. chipped car is insanely rich under boost w/ the yellow tops(and was with the stock injectors as well). After looking through my spare yellow tops, I have some 280150556's, 280150943's, and some 280150939's as well(these are 19lb'ers with a creme colored body instead of black, they were out of a 96-98 mustang or the same era police crown vic if I remember correctly). This site lists a some more OE 19lb injectors w/ part numbers, car interchanges, etc. http://www.fiveomotorsport.com/Injector_SetsFORD.asp#foted5b
Garrett Powered
so thats probably why the myth was born that jeffs chip was so much less power than kenny's. they were using yellowtops with both chips. I bet they are about the same if you dyno the TG160 using good multecs I was loving the 0-60 in 6.6 seconds with the stock injectors and jeff's chip before the injectors finally bit it. but now am going with 28 lb and the turbo v-sick tune and my gt2871r in the red TGP. see how that runs for awhile. I had Jeff's chip and the 25/28 hybrid turbo and that was insane too after the turbo finally spooled. I think the injectors should be chosen mainly by which chip you have or vise versa. ford injectors- hot tune stock injectors- top gun, for sure ls1 injectors- talk to Adam. Addicted To Boost
so thats probably why the myth was born that jeffs chip was so much less power than kenny's. they were using yellowtops with both chips. I bet they are about the same if you dyno the TG160 using good multecs That's not true. There is a dyno graph on TGPforums showing the Hot Tune making ~30 more HP than the Topgun. Garrett Powered
oh, so when they dyno'd the car with the top gun chip it did have *good* stock injectors for sure then? or did it have the yellow tops in already? ..thats what I wasn't sure about. mfewtrail
so thats probably why the myth was born that jeffs chip was so much less power than kenny's. they were using yellowtops with both chips. I bet they are about the same if you dyno the TG160 using good multecs Stock vs. yellow top injectors do not really make a power difference. Everyone switches to them after their stock multecs fail or start leaking. They're simply replacement injectors that flow approximately the same as the stock ones. Kenny posted dyno charts on the TGP board. Search there and you'll find them. The chart he posted was not even the completed chip if I remember correctly and it was already showing around a 30whp gain.
Garrett Powered
I have seen the dyno charts that he had at one point, although I can not search topics because I am not a member. was the car dyno'd with a top gun chip and stock injectors or with ford ones? If I remember right, the top gun numbers I saw were still pretty nice compared to what I got on my old TGP when the motor was pretty tired. I got 185 hp/230 tq....still got to tear that motor down and find out why it was so noisy. forgive me since I can't use the search function over there and can't see for myself right at the moment..so by 40-45% more power, are you saying that 45% more power than stock has been proven with just the chip and yellowtops on an otherwise stock vehicle? because 205x1.45= 297 hp. not that I don't believe you, just doing some quick math and I don't know if I did that right. if I can expect 287-297 HP at sea level then that is pretty darn good. Crazy K
RE: oem injectors: I am compiling some info on stock parts. a parts website gave me the following number for a tgp injector: #19160383 {ACDELCO Part # 2173046} which of course is different from 17086981 as given by MFEWTRAIL. any thoughts???? Garrett Powered
I got sick of the red tgp not having any power and decided to get off my ASS and ohm the injectors. they had 103,775 k on them anyway, so I got them out and found out that: 1. 12.5 ohms 2. 10.1 ohms 3. 12.6 ohms 4. 12.5 ohms 5. 11.7 ohms 6. 10.9 ohms 3 bad injectors! so my #1 tgp that is donating all the parts lately had a newer set of injectors I bought years ago that were supposed to be stock replacements. this was before everyone started using the ford injectors, and I paid like $800 or some rediculous price for them back in 2002 or so. but they look slightly different. I didn't see any part # on them. the right side is the rails I took off the red tgp with all original injectors. the left is off my old black car. they all ohm out at 12.5 or close to it. one of the newer ones looks more like the old ones though IDK what to do. throw on the rails on the left or sell them and just use the ls1 28 lb injectors on the far right and the chip that runs them I got from Adam that I haven't tried out yet. I was going to save it for the other car with the bigger turbo but its still under the knife at the time being. I think I will just use the 28 #ers. I got to get it back together tonight because this is the only car I can really drive at the moment. we'll see what happens.

Crazy K
where is the part # on them? look down on the injector from directly above. orient the connector to face you(6 O'clock position), and the number will be on the rounded edge between the top and side of the injector body from the 12 to 3 o'clock position.
