dirt_igirt
what is going on with my car if anyone cares lol first off my car is a 1991 gp se last fall it started to knock so i parked it for the winter. this winter i had bought a 91 gp gt i drove it for 2 weeks and blew a head gasket so i am driving my moms cutlass ciera wagon lol. i had pulled the engine from the gt and the plan was to put head gaskets in it and put it in my se the gt is a complete hack job... so i pulled the heads off the engine and the whole inside looks like someone poored chocolate milk in it. you could tell someone had changed the oil and put stop leak in it to sell the car so i am not putting that engine in my car. i pulled the engine from my car and found that i threw #4 rod bearing. so i just ordered a new crank and piston rings and i had bought head gaskets so i am putting them on now as well.. any ideas on what else i should while i have the engine that far torn apart
pitzel
The engine with the 'chocolate milk' probably was just a lower intake gasket leak. Shouldn't cost you more than about $50-$60 to correct. Just make sure you use the updated torque specs, and some thread sealant.
dirt_igirt
that engine i pulled what i wanted from it and it is gone now
95 vert
If it looked like chocolate milk then the bearings were most likely washed out anyway.
GP1138
If it looked like chocolate milk then the bearings were most likely washed out anyway. My sentiments exactly... why would he want to take the chance when those engines are plentiful enough that he has his pick of good ones elsewhere? Andrew
you are replacing ALL the rod and main bearings right? are you taking the block to a machine shop to check it out?
