tornado_735 Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 I was just curious about this. I'm going to need tires soon, and was wondering if I can get some 225's on my stock 16 inch alloys. Also, the powder coat or paint is coming off of the alloys, and it looks crappy. Could I have these rims sand blasted or cleaned with some other media, and have them repainted/powdercoated? Or would it just be more cost effective to get a set of aftermarket rims? Thanks all, Aaron Quote
Andrew Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 yes 225 will fit, in fact most have them stock. and it likely cheaper to get aftermarket/different wheels. Quote

That's weird, mine has 215's. I'll be more that happy to step it up if I can. Maybe even a 235 if it will fit/I can afford it. Quote
Garrett Powered Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 I got 265s on mustang SVT rims. tomorrow morning I'm heading up to washington to pick up a set of 18x8"s with 245s. getting them for $400. Quote

Garrett Powered Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 I got wheels with the right offset. +25mm like the crosslace rims. anything between 25-35mm will work. 25 if you have body cladding which I am assuming you do. the ones I am leaving to get right now are 38mm eagle alloy 077 polished for my 88 GP with no body kit. the mustang wheels stuck out too far so I got them on the TGP. Maybe even a 235 if it will fit/I can afford it. stock sizing varies. most earlier cars with 16" rims get 215/60R16, while a few early cars such as higher level coupes and LQ1(3800 as well?) cars got 225/60R16. eventually 225/60R16 was standard by the second gens coming out.
