xtremerevolution
I have my first oil leak on my regal, at 200,600 miles. Its not very big, and I don't see any oil loss over 2600 miles since I last did my oil change, but its annoying nonetheless. I seal my oil filters by oiling the rubber gasket before putting it on, and replace the filter every oil change. I just replaced the oil pan drain bolt. the LIM gasket was also replaced recently. Any idea on what else it could be? I have an oil pan gasket coming in the mail, so I'm hoping that will fix it. I'll be changing that on my next oil change. z34mightymachine
On my 1989 cavalier Z24 I had an oil leak by the oil sensor. You can check that.
xtremerevolution
Right on. I'll definitely check that...if I can find it of course.
Euro
My last oil leak was the oil pan gasket, so maybe that'll fix it for ya
xtremerevolution
I sure hope so. I've been fortunate to not have any oil leak for so long.
slick
3800's are known for oil pan gaskets. Check oil pressure sensor, oil level indicator, valve cover gaskets, etc...
xtremerevolution
Slick, does that include series 1 3800's? I've been discovering that they're pretty different from the series 2's. I'll definitely check the things you mentioned. I'm doubting it would be the valve cover gaskets though as I replaced those at 180k and even then the old ones were in good condition. slick
My brothers '93 Bonneville had an oil pan leak, so I'm sure it's possible.
xtremerevolution
Well in that case, no doubt about it!
slick
I wouldn't put my money on it, but it's something to check. IIRC, you'll need to suppor the engine and drop the subframe, or you'll need to raise the engine, to get the pan out.

Does that mean dipstick, LOL? Andrei, with that many miles it could be anything, but I would put my money on the oil pan.
xtremerevolution
Sounds good. I think it might be easier to loosen some engine mount bolts and lift the engine than to support the engine and drop the subframe. I should be doing the job this weekend. Leave it alone and get the Jag going first lol Oh yeah. I have to wait till Scott gets into town so I can buy another head off of him since I ruined my driver's side head. I'll port the manifolds and make my custom intake till then. I think I'm going to polish the intake manifolds to make them really shiny.
