89SupremeCutty Posted May 30, 2009 Author Report Posted May 30, 2009 ok. so would it be alright to drive the car without the carpet while it's drying? Quote
5speedz34 Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Yah it would be fine, but not something I would want to do. Quote
digitaloutsider Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 I drove without carpet for weeks before Quote
Venom Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 I once drove one of my old Camaros down to the gas station with nothing more than a dash and a milk crate LOL. Talk about scary driving! Quote

slick Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 If you have a clothes line, or a balcony, hang it over that. Hopefully it's a sunny, and slightly windy day, will help dry much quicker. On a side note, I've had carpet take up to 3 days to dry. Quote

Add vise grips for a steering wheel, mind you it was only two blocks away but still. That's awesome. I once used a box-end wrench for a shifter... putting the parking brake on, getting out of the car, and shifting right on top of the transmission, because the shift cable was broken. Quote

MonteCarloChick Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 I just used this Resolve wet powder stuff on the Sebring's interior and it was phenomenal. YOu shake it on and scrub it in.. then vacuum it off. It worked fantastic! Quote

jake91 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 i once washed some carpet it was only around 4ft X 4ft but i hung it over a fence and it dried in a couple hours, but i guess it helps i live in az and it was 90 out with 15% humidity Quote
Crazy K Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 the carpet on the pass side is almost black from spilled drinks and such. pull it. there is no other choice for a job done right. You can drive your car as long as you stick the seats back in and reinstall the seatbelts. I recommend putting down some old towels over the fiberglass hump protector so you don't tear it up with your feet while the carpet is out. I like to remove and scrub dirty carpet on a chain link fence, get some detergent and a brush and soap scrub and rinse it clean and through. Nothing is dirtier than the effluent generated when you clean old car carpet. aloow to dry for a few days and reinstall. Quote

The interior is a light grey and the floors were a dark brown. It worked amazing. I'll have to get pics. Quote

Regal_GS_1989 Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Best bet would be to pull the seats, then use a carpet cleaner. I have never had really good results when power washing carpets. On a sunny day, i've had the carpets completely dry in about 1.5 hours. I used this method on my cutlass and the carpets went from a packed down dirty mess to nice clean and fresh. Quote
Grand Moff Joseph Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Oxyclean powder and some hot water works wonders. trust me. Also, if removing from the car, carpets usually take 1-1.5 days to dry, depending on weather conditions. If you need to keep them inside, a good space heater will help dry them faster. Quote
