pitzel
I have oil in the coolant again, and a small amount of coolant is dissappearing every time I drive. So I'm assuming that my LIM is bad again (or alternatively, just needs the bolts retorqued ). My heater core circuit, however, is blocked off because of a kink in one of the hoses going to the heater core. Would this cause excess pressure to exist where the coolant passages go seal to the intake manifold? Also, has anyone had any luck just removing and retorquing the LIM bolts, instead of actually pulliing the intake and replacing the gasket? Its a brand new gaskets; the gasket it replaced had no defects whatsoever, and the amount of coolant that has leaked, thus far, is minimal. I did use thread sealer (permatex blue), and the upgraded GM torque spec, along with the Fel-Pro gasket set. It sealed perfectly fine until very recently. Help! It was just a year ago (~8k mi) ago that I did the LIM. What a pain.
pitzel
Okay, im a dumbass. The coolant level was 'going down' because I didn't bleed 100% properly. The oil that was appearing on my radiator cap was oil that was still left in the coolant recovery tank after the LIM failure ~7-8k ago or so. All is well. Can't over-emphasize the need to properly follow the coolant refill procedure.
