89GP_SE
Well I dumped money into the W again and still no where further ahead! arrg. Had bad spark, figured my coil was gone, I replaced that, still misses, and is extremely rich, I burnt 15 liters idleing in half an hour! I have no idea what to do with this car, no body wants to buy it, its old, I have no money, still in school, ahh sooo tired of this car. Crazy K
have you checked for spark on ALL 6 wires? have you considered checking your resistance on your fuel injectors?
89SupremeCutty
have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? do what ken says and check the injectors.
Crazy K
what car/year/engine is it?
89GP_SE
my 92 lumina 3.1 Ohkay LOL. After a bout of crying im gonna see if I can do some problem solving. So, no I have not done all 6 wires yet, I will have to check them out with a multimeter tomorrow, see if they are all in the right resistance range. The car fuels like no other. Fuel pressure regulator works find, with vacuum applied its at like 40 psi and no vac line on it rises (that is what it should do right>) I replaced the plugs that were extremly fuel foweld, but I think I am looking at another 300 dollars in parts just to get this car running again, I dont know If I can justify that with this thing. I bought this car in September and honestly its been nickle and diming me to death ever since. Edit: So when I pull the plug wire off #6 the idle does not change, but on any of the other front ones it stutters and dies. new coil and known good wire is on that #6 now and still same results. Fuel pump (250) Starter (179) Alternator(120) 2 lower ball joints (60) New fender(20) New Coil(56) it Just keeps adding up. The cheapest set of wires in town is 45, plugs are another 12. If I have a stuck fuel injector that is 100, not even kidding that is the cheapest in town, and I honestly cant do the buy online and wait 2 weeks, I kinda need these to run now. I think I am done with it. For Sale for parts.
RobertISaar
well, quite obviously cylinder 6 is your issue. but if you have a new wire, and coil for it, then obviously you either have a fuel or compression issue. but since you have burnt so much gas after a very short time, i would bet fuel. Genopsyde
a faulty coolant temp sensor for the ecm will cause your car to run like crap and pig rich. it's a cheap part to replace so before you buy anything else expensive, try that and let us know the result. I've been running across this problem a lot lately.

Crazy K
Your test is insufficient. HOW TO SPARK CHECK: take each wire in turn and lay the plug end on top of the intake. stick a phillips screw driver into the tip. crank engine. observe which have spark, and which don't. observe the color of the spark. should be a healthy blue, and not yellow/orange. helps if you have an old wire laying around. HOW TO CHECK FUEL REGULATOR: pull off the vacuum line and see if there is fuel in the line. run vehicle. pull off the vacuum line and plug it with your finger. does the idle change? DO YOU HAVE A MULTIMETER? OHM CHECK INJECTORS: On your engine, you can check the drivers front and passengers rear injector without removing the intake. check then and tell us what you've got. As for the temp sensor... it may be an issue.
Dark Ride
Do you get a SES light? I would try pulling codes anyway, its so easy on these cars. Also, if it turns out to be a fuel injector I have a couple used spares I would sell you cheap.
89GP_SE
well I was talking with a friend the other night and was discussing it with him, he said to try putting a peice of paper at the tail pipe and see if it wants to suck it in, and push it back out, so I did, then called him. He said sounds like a stuck valve. It was number 6 which was doing it for sure, so I put some oil in the front valve cover and fired it up, miss fired for a couple minutes, burnt blue smoke, and then it stopped missfiring, and ran good, minus the blue smoke. Ran it at idle and burnt the oil out of the valve, now its running good (havent taken it for a driver yet though) and a little tick. I am wondering if there is a bandaid fix to the ticking (engine oil is up by the way)
