Security System goes off when I lock the doors and walk away

Maybe it doesn't want me to go I don't know, but on my 98 GP sometimes if I lock the doors with the remote, it will start going off 15 seconds later. Any Ideas?

what kind of sensor does it use to determine if something is happening? mercury switches?

Does this happen every time, or is it intermittent? I have had mine go off several times after I enter my apartment building, but I'm pretty sure I'm accidentally hitting the "panic button" somehow while checking the mail, or carrying a bunch of stuff in.

Its pretty intermittent, like it hasn't done it at all this weekend. I'm pretty sure that I'm not hitting the panic button, since thats what I originally dismissed it as, and typically keep it in my hand now.
