89SupremeCutty
i think i may have a possible bad engine mount but im not sure. yesterday i went through a bumpy intersection kinda fast to beat light that just changed to yellow and after that at the next intersection about a half a mile away, i can feel the engine vibrating the whole car. and on my way home from work last night while accelerating it felt like the exhaust was touching the body someplace like around the downpipe. now tonight, im hearing a creaking everytime i hit the gas to take off from a stop. while running it through the gears it doesn't make the creaking noise. engine mount or tranny mount? xtremerevolution
most likely, the engine mount is broken, and what you hear creaking is the exhaust pipes rubbing possibly due to a worn exhaust flange gasket. put the car into drive and very securely press down the parking brake. pop the hood and rev the engine lightly by twisting the throttle body valve. if the engine moves excessively in the engine bay, you need either an engine torque mount, which is visible as one or two arms connecting the engine to the frame at the top, or your front lower engine mount is bad, which is right under the compressor. it is also possible that both could be bad.
