BN
When my 93 Cutlass (3.4 DOHC,48,000 miles) sits overnight it doesn't want to move when shifted into gear and takes awhile before it engages. After that it drives fine. Is the trans shot or is there some other smaller problem?
mfewtrail
Slow engagement is typically caused by a low fluid level or partially stopped up filter. Check the fluid level after you've driven a few miles and heated up the transaxle. Leave the car running and the transaxle in park when you check the fluid level. If the fluid level is fine, swapping out the filter should take care of the problem.
DavidHowell3633
My 94 4T60E was slow to engage in reverse when cold. The guys on here directed me to try GM's magic in a bottle, Transmission Fluid Seal Conditioner. It took me some time to find GMs brand at local dealers. But, the stuff works great. Good luck.
