Andrew
the best mod would be to trade your SE in for a GT or GTP, both of which have tons of aftermarket.
AL
his SE could have the 3800...
jake91
he has the 3100. just checked the garage
UnRealKillR
as much of a mod as trading in my car is... i won't. it has less than 90k miles, 1 owner & has been well maintained so that would not make any sense to get a car somebody else has driven like god knows what. not to mention that the insurance would be rather pricey. digitaloutsider
FWIW, insurance on even GTP's is cheap. These aren't sports cars.
UnRealKillR
Ok, so besides the 3.1 bashing... Does this thing acutally work like it says? I've seen stuff for my GA that said the same but it just replaced the air sensor to open the throttle body more often (+20hp ebay crap)

I've seen stuff for my GA that said the same but it just replaced the air sensor to open the throttle body more often (+20hp ebay crap) it opens the throttle body more often? WTF? here's a guide for ebay: if you see a whole bunch of them with the same picture being sold by the same person, its 99% junk. a reputable source of performance parts: WOT-Tech. formerly known as the 60degreev6 store. they know what they're doing, as opposed to all of the china made shit on ebay, and JET stuff as well. the only way a MAF will work better, is if it is the main source of restriction in your intake. a 3100, stock and most moderately modified, is not being held back by the MAF. look for power elsewhere. AL
It doesnt work because fuel management is run off of the MAP sensor... If you unplug your MAF, it doesnt change anything at all as its used as a back up sensor to the MAP...

UnRealKillR
it opens the throttle body more often? WTF? something along those lines, it messes with the ECU. complete ebay crap. but, that isn't what i was asking, all i want to know is if the thing does what its supposed to do. UnRealKillR
ok, so maybe i should have put this as what i wanted to get from asking. either yes i've used one before, then: yes it works like a regular MAF. or no, it messes stuff up. or no, i haven't used one before. RobertISaar
how about, dont waste your money. ditto, those JET ones are no better in terms of quality, and if there is any performance bump(not likely, but lets play along) its going to come at a price. like i mentioned earlier, unless the MAF is your biggest restriction, don't bother "upgrading" it. it won't yield anything other than the possibility of wearing out sooner or losing drivability

RobertISaar
?? i was posting that for the reason that i've asked 2 questions and have not gotten a single straight foward answer you've gotten many straightforward anwsers, the JET MAF is shit, don't trust us, go buy it, but don't bitch about it when you've been told exactly how it is. notice the amount of posts that the members have that have been responding? we've done our homework, tried the parts and have learned from it, and now we try and help, but you're trying to call bullshit? long story short: if you want to be surrounded by ignorant people, go to clubgp, we don't have the time for it here. UnRealKillR
i can post too, this one is number 19, but that still doesn't answer the question. "its a waste of money"/"its crap" are opinions, i was asking if anybody had used it before. a simple yes/no would have worked, but i get "its a waste of money"/"trade your car"/quote twisting crap. i may be ignorant sometimes, but i try to not give ignorant answers

BXX
Ok, heres your straighforward answer... Your stock 3100 will only pull about 17lb/min airflow, which equates to about 8125hz. Your stock MAF will fail/max out at 11,500hz which is 48lb/min airflow.. So, unless you have some large boost, a 3100 does not need a larger MAF... You can recalibrate it using a tuner, I use HP Tuners, so there is no need for a junk supposed recalibrated MAF from JET when we can do that with our PCM if needed!! Even so, a stock 3100 doesnt need the PCM recalibrated on the MAF tables Now I can benifit from redoing my MAF tables due to my non-stock amount of airflow.. Of course I know its needed as my LTFT and STFT are not where they should be.. Of course a larger MAF is just not needed!! Even 3x00 engines under boost dont need a larger MAF, they just could use descreened at the MAF tables tuned.. Our MAF is 3" already as it is..
