UnRealKillR
i am looking into getting new rotors and pads & was wondering if anyone knew anything about this brand? my last car i bought some random brand off of ebay, and they were decent. but i would rather get a better know brand in my GP
xtremerevolution
I've personally had great experiences with R1 Concepts off ebay. I ordered EBC rotors for my regal but summitracing shipped me ones for a camaro instead after being on back order for 6 weeks, so I said screw it and went with powerstop fronts on my regal. I have the R1 concepts rotors on my Bonneville and they are awesome.
Andrew
EBC's are great.
UnRealKillR
how about pads? Summit has the Ultimax & Redstuff
xtremerevolution
the best pads i've used are the high end akebonos and bendix ct-3's, and i've tried a lot of pads.
Euro
I'd definitely do EBC over any ebay brand
xtremerevolution
why is that? while I acknowledge EBC is a quality company, I don't think its really fair to raise them on that high of a pedestool. as I mentioned, the rotors I have from R1 Concepts have been excellent. my pads just started squealing today, with 13,000 miles on them and very spirited driving. they're also a lot cheaper, so unless you'd presume to think they would crack, I don't see how they'd be of any less quality. Euro
Just from personal opinion. My R1's have been absolute shit in less than 7k miles on the car. Everybody I know that uses EBC's have been pleased.
xtremerevolution
well I know your r1's went through brake pads like there's no tomorrow, but I certainly haven't had that same experience. all of the pads I buy are usually pretty stiff. UnRealKillR
i just noticed the EBCs only have a 6 month warranty, i checked the ones i had on my last car & they have a lifetime warranty. i guess i'm not going to get the EBCs

Pricewise you really can't beat them. They were $180 shipped for the fronts for my Bonneville including pads (which I returned) for cross drilled, slotted, and zinc coated rotors, whereas zinc coated stock rotors from Napa were $150 + tax and stock ACDelco rotors were $110 + tax. Having gone through more brakes in the life of my regal than most people here, I can honestly say that the best I've used so far are the Akebono Pro-ACT Ultra-premiums, and the Bendix CT-3's. Both can be picked up for around $60 on rockauto.com.
Crazy K
does R1 concepts offer unslotted rotors that are zinc plated???
xtremerevolution
does R1 concepts offer unslotted rotors that are zinc plated??? Upon order, you can specify what you want. You can get slotted, cross-drilled, or both. If you don't want either, you can get just plain flat zinc coated rotors, and those are dirt cheap. $55 a pair for the rears for our cars, shipped. Every time you place an order they give you a $10 off coupon, so you can make that $45 shipped for the pair. Fronts for 11.25" w-body: http://store.r1concepts.com/Items/Item.aspx?SKU=emf00778%20-%20121.62054&caSKU=emf00778%20-%20121.62054&caTitle=BUICK%20REGAL%2095%20286mm%20Brake%20Rotors%20-%20E-Line%20-%20Front If you get them cross drilled or slotted or both, they're $93.60, and if you get them blank with zinc coating, they're $53.60. That doesn't include shipping, but even so its a great price for great rotor. Rears are $77.40 or $37.40 for blanks.
Crazy K
Cleveland has ruined a few of my rotors....
xtremerevolution
Don't be misled though. zinc coating is there to help, not solve the problem. even my powerstop drilled rotors started rusting after a couple of chicago winters, and I had to drill out the rust from them a month ago. The r1 rotors on my bonneville have seen one entire winter and there's no rust to be seen, so i'm hoping they'll stay that way.
terryk2003
i have ebc redstuff pads and their slotted/drilled rotors on my car...never had any problems with them. although, the rotors dont look as nice after a couple ohio winters as they did when i first put them on (to be expected i suppose)

I made the mistake of putting the ones I got with my rotors on and I think that's why I'm having so much trouble with brake pads. And oh yeah, gotta love that chatter when you step on the brakes

xtremerevolution
might be worth mentioning that I got their brake pad/rotor combo for the fronts on the bonneville, and not only did they dust up a lot, but they also cut a tiny groove into one of my rotors due to some strange defect. I e-mailed them and a week later I received a refund for the price of the pads, and they never even asked me to return them. that's the kind of service I can appreciate. terryk2003
out of curiosity, how much did you pay or those rotors and pads, shipped? honestly, i dont remember, but i bought them from summit racing equipment about 2 years ago and picked them up...so, no shipping...i'm thinking it was somewhere around $
nabilone
i am looking into getting new rotors and pads & was wondering if anyone knew anything about this brand? my last car i bought some random brand off of ebay, and they were decent. but i would rather get a better know brand in my GP I have a 92 Buick Regal and use the EBC Yellowstuff Pads. If you have looked into the different models, you'll find out that the Yellowstuff line lies in between their street pads (redstuffs) and their track pads (bluestuffs). In my opinion they are the perfect balance. They are very quiet with amazing amounts of bite, first apparent after you've worn em in a few miles after first application. However they do require about a minute or so of warming up to feel the full effect from a cold-start. Because of the performance orientation of this line, they arent supposed to last a lifetime. But i've had mine on for the last 10k, and they have just about started to lose the edge after lots of decent thrashing (very acceptable to me considering the mind-blowing stopping power it delivers @ the price range). The 'greenstuff' line i've heard is pretty popular, among most users, as they are supposed to be extra quiet and smooth ceramic pads. However i've also heard tht brake dust is higher. The 'redstuff' i've heard gets a lot of sales on aftermarket websites. I havent heard anything specific about the 'bluestuff' line from users (probably because they arent designed to be street legal), but if you know bout EBC then you would know that they have tons of track experience in Europe, and is the official brake pads of the Silverstone Circuit in UK. I cant vouch for the EBC rotors, but they sure do look tasty However what I can vouch for are the rotors from (brakeperformance.com). If you get the same style as the EBC Cross drilled/Slotted, you end up payin just under $200 for both front & rear sets. I've had the Dimple Drilled/Slotted versions (about $330) put on for over 10k now, and they show very satisfactory amount of wear given the fact that i regularly abused them. Hope this helps.
