supreme_style21
When cold, say 35ish and below, the steering in my 02 GP is pretty chunky, if that makes sense. Highway speeds, it seems fine, although I don't make a ton of turns at highway speed. Anything below that, the steering is loopy.. it's light/tight/light/tight. I don't know how to explain it other than chunky. The fluid is full. It's got 'magnasteer'. That's about all I know about it. Is there something wrong with it or is that just the way that magnetic steering feels? Once it warms up to normal operating temp, it's smooth as butter. 95 vert
Sounds like your power steering has "morning sickness". It's what we used to call steering gears that would turn stiff when cold.I used to pull the pressure fitting from the pump, drill it open larger and flush the system. Basically it was a temporary fix. Correct repair was to replace the rack.
supreme_style21
awesome. I'll just have to deal with it next winter. Any harm in just dealing with it every year when it turns cold?
