Any sign of what one the cooling fans go through?

Everything that come son at start up has to go through them to some extent...

I replaced the whole column with one out of a friend 96 GP SE, he never had any problems with it.

And if it was a faulty ignition switch, wouldn't it only happen at start up? This problem has happened while driving at slow speeds...

Jamie

No, it can happen at any speed if the ign. switch is bad.

according to this, the fans dont run off of that fuse

maxifuse 1 for fan 2 and maxifuse 3 for fan 1, both are 60amp

I am thinking maybe starter? It happens on start up, but it hasn't ONLY happened at start up... :willynilly:

If you have a spare, toss it in, can't hurt anything.

i really cant think of any other diagrams to help you out... but when you need them, i got 'em

I just went to Canadian Tire and got more fuses... Put one in the car and it fired right up no problem! :willynilly:

whatever, i just don't want to see other member's :willies: popping up all over the place. this is the internet, dozens of people visit it daily, do you think they'll be impressed

lol, I fixed the :willynilly: lol

OK, so...

If I am reading this drawing right, if it was something with that Transaxle Range switch or the SIR circuit, it would blow that 5 amp fuse long before blowing the 40A fuse.

So that leaves the starting system. But how would that explain the car dieing after its been started?

Some sort of short in one of the wires? when the car moves the shorted wire moves and blows the fuse? :dunno:

If you have specific areas you think there is a short based on diagrams , keep the car running and start wiggling/tugging lightly on wires in that area until the fuse pops (assuming the car shuts off) , could give you an idea of where the bad connection is. I did this on my g/fs old cavalier with the headlight wiring , turned out to be a corroded wire.

So I arranged to have insurance on the car and took it to the track today... Test & tune

At first we thought I might be hitting fuel cut, but then we thought its just not shifting and hitting the rev limiter. I am going to try tracking down a good ECM for it and see what happens then

Here is a video, with 8 seconds left in the video you can hear what the car is doing.

Here is more about the day at the track

I have an ECM...Not sure what shipping would be but it will fit in a flat rate box. You can have it for the shipping.
