my question is why would he need obd II? They are listing it to work with Fieros. Im just not understanding why OBD II would have to be used.

It would have to be tuned to run properly. His car is a 1995 which is OBD 1.5 which is NOT tuneable. That would be the reason to swap to OBD-II.

If it is listed to work on a Fiero, then I would guess that a more accurate statement would be that he would need to convert to OBD2 or OBD1. Basically, lose the OBD1.5 so that it can be tuned. On the flip side, having never attempted a ECM conversion (yet), I'd bet that switching to OBD2 would be the more logical and easier swap for the OP since he has a '95.

Correct! the tuneability of OBD II is better as well, and if it matters, it is technically illegal to use older equipment on a newer car, so an OBD I swap would be out of the question if the car is ever inspected.

 

 

 

Why not just go for an L67 swap?????

 

or a totally built out 3100???

because any type of 3800 exhaust sounds like total shit compared to a 60* motor.

 

i say 3900, and if its really necessary, turbo

seriously... if he has a dollar day junkyard run.... he could locate a complete L67 drivetrain and be out the door for so cheap.. it would be worth it.

i wanna trying to get an l67 but everyone rapes those cars the second they come in, i have a spair 3100 sitting on my basement that i plan on working and throwing in my car one day

I dunno about where you are, but around here the wreckers pull the L67s if they are any good. Just ask at your wreckers, chances are they are already pulled out.

its a place where you do everything yoreself, they dont do anything for you there, thats why a motor is only 75 and a trans is 40 lol....onetime i asked a staff member for help and he stright out told me "dont be a pussy, put some mussle into it" and walked off

i just put boards over the stairs and put the motor on a dolly and tide a rope to the dolly and slowly let it down the boards with me and my brother holding the rope
