douellette
the other day my 97 cutlass supreme just started making a wierd kind of sound. at first i thought it was something wrong with the tires (sounded almost like i had a flat or a hard spot in the tire) then i drove it today and its gotten progressively worse (louder). it only makes the noise when going straight and left and when im coasting. if i push on the gas or turn right it seems to go away. the wheel bearings in front feel tight, i checked the cv shafts and the driver side doesnt seem to move at all and the passenger side the inner joint seems to wiggle just a little bit. what the hell could this be? thanks. 95 vert
Sounds like a wheel bearing. By turning and making it go away, you are taking load off the bearing.
douellette
found the problem. all the lugnuts were loose on the driver front wheel. i torqued them with a 100 ft lb. torque stick tho, so i dont know why it would come loose. my dad ended up tightening them a little bit tighter than i had them and it dosnt seem to have come loose yet. does anyone know what the torque spec for the aluminum (5 or 6 spoke, idk how many there are) stock wheel?
