jtwmechanic
i have never actually done this particular swap, but i think anything around a 2000 model will work. i do know that you will want to use your 3100 injectors. also i think you might run into a few issues with matching egr from 3100 to 3400 so get the whole upper and lower intakes with everything on them. i bet one of guy's here have done this and know all the details. look through older posts
Taylor
You can use a 1996+ 3400 lower intake, or a LATE 1999+ 3100 lower intake. If his car is a 1993*-1995, he will need to do some work to the lower intake to clear the rockers. The stamped steel rockers hit. If his car is a 1996+ then there is no issue with the lower intake. 1996+ 3100 cars have a linear EGR, so a 3400 upper intake will work until 2000+. The 2000+ ones are the same basic egr, but it is mounted differently (so you would need the pipe, and adapter). If his car is a 1993*-1995, then you would want a 2000+ upper intake, and get an EGR adapter from WOT store. * 1993 refers only to the CUTLASS SUPREME. The 1993 Cutlass Supreme was the only w-body offered with the 3100, but they are rare.
GP1138
You want the '99+ 3400/3100 intakes. Get the upper and lower intakes, and throttlebody. If you have stamped rockers and your heads are notched for roller rockers you can just transfer them over and use the intakes, but otherwise you have to get heads too. It's good for a few HP, worth doing if you have some spare time. Definitely a little more passing power on the highway. Nothing major though. You have to transfer throttle cable mounts, just unscrew the butterfly and swap it that way. There are threads about this. I did it myself on my old '95 GP.
