I would like you guys input on the modifications I am doing to my 1993 Grand Prix SE. Also I would like other improvements that I should do to the suspension and brakes. The vehicle is a L67 swapped vehicle.

 

List of things I am doing:

- Monte Rear bar with new ES end mounts (OEM hangers)

- 2nd Gen Rear Spindle and Lateral bars with ES bushings

- 2nd Gen GMPP trailing arms

- New KYB Grb-2 Front and rear struts.

- Coil over set up that has been discussed

- Rear progressive rate springs 174-300 (iirc) (deleting mono leaf)

 

 

Modifications to vehicle brakes / suspension already:

- Monte “intrax†front lowering springs

- ES front bushings on the sway bar

- Front R.A.T. Strut Bar

- PowerStop Drilled front and rear rotors

- PowerStop Front and rear brake pads

- Goodrich SS brake lines (front current – rears will be done w/ rear suspension)

 

What I am after:

- I would like to see some improved braking.

- I will not be auto-crossing the vehicle but an improved handling while still not being harsh is what I am after.

- I would also like to (after I get the rear higher) to shove the rear wheels out.

- You really need a RSTB. Those help a ton with handling on FWD's.

 

- Your braking components really seem top notch for stock style. I know they probably still arent spectacular, thats just the curse of W brakes. There are upgrades out there for you though.(13" front kit, 1.5 gen oem rear upgrade)

 

- To push the rear wheels out, either get new wheels with a smaller offset, or get spacers and some longer wheel studs.

He's using the 2nd gen lateral links which are longer. They'll push the rear wheels out a bit.

 

I would advise to get bolt on spacers over putting longer wheel studs on with slip on spacers.

 

I put 1" thick bolt on spacers on the back of my TGP to give it a nice wide stance.

I held the 2nd gen rear lats up and they dont look longer.......maybe a 1/4 inch

 

Where and how much where your spacers?

I bought the aluminum bolt on spacers from a local supplier although you can get them on ebay about $100 CDN for a pair.

 

5x115mm

 

1" thick

 

12mm studs

darn I was hoping you'd say less than what I have found them for.

 

I found the 1 inch bolt on billet with the lugs for $75 a pair but have to purchase 2 sets (4 total)

I looked into doing that exact thing. The reasons that it cant be done are:

-the strut cap is not large enough to fit the 3 bolt mount

-the strut cap is not strong enough to hold the extra stress of the spring (noted people are doing coil overs)
