I've been wanting to get a pressure washer for home use. We use one to wash our vehicles at work, and man does it go so much faster!

I've seen some electric ones, around 1600psi for around $100. Opinions?

Should I man up and get a gas powered one?

I know I dont need 5 bagillion psi to wash a car, and in fact too high would probably be a bad thing.

The only other use i would have for it is to clean my very small deck, thats why Im leaning towards a cheapy.

we have a 1700 psi karcher its great perfect for cars. my dad has a 2300 psi honda anf it blew a bit of paint off his bumper, and it splintered the wood on his deck

A small electric one will do the trick, and annoy the neighbours less than a gas model.

You don't want TOO much pressure, you'll start taking paint off of the car.

I've got a yellow Karcher electric washer, 1600psi. Works great, no issues here with over 1.5 years of use.

Whatever you do, DO NOT buy a Craftsman electric washer - mine broke in less than a month, and when I brought it back to Sears, the sales guy said that usually they get over 70% of the power washers they sell back within 3 months!

you'll need it around the house, buy a gas one. Gutters, cement, cars, etc. I had an electric one and i tossed the fucker after it was being a bitch (literally tossed it...) buy a honda gas powered one and you'll be set for years.

I don't recommend a cheapie. They just don't last and buying two or three easily will exceed a decent one. I agree with getting a power rather than a gas powered one. Too noisy.

UPDATE:

i bought a cheapy last weekend. It worked for 5 minutes. Took it back and got my moneys back.

In the 5 minutes it worked, i decided its 1600psi was too wimpy for my liking. Maybe im spoiled by the gargantuan diesel powered one at work.

Anyway, i think i will be asking for a bigger one from Santa.

At work I got a 2hp 1500psi ELECTRIC pressure washer. It has way more power then the cheap $100-200 ones (even the "2000psi" rated). It's a commercial grade unit though, cost $650. lol. But it was the best option IMO for our user car dealership, gas motor is no good indoors with the doors closed.

Try and find a used one like this, a nice alternative to gas powered units.

i'd deffinatly recommend a gas one...IMO, electric and water dont mix...plus, you will find a million things to do with a pressure washer around the house, so you might as well get a good one.

I borrowed my parents karcher and it works great. I think they got it at costco which means you can always take it back and they dont ask questions. its the perfect pressure too to get the cedar fence looking good without splintering.

I have a 6.0HP Honda powered pressure washer. It is fucking awesome and like said already you'll find many uses. This one I have will destroy a lot of stuff - but it has a regulator on it and different nozzles to help with the excessive pressure when you don't want it all.
