How much would you spend on a 3.4l

I have a 93 cutty with 169,000 on it and run get just leaks oil out the rear main and as far as I know its never been rebuilt or replaced. I found a used one for 450.00 and didn't know if I should buy it.

you will still want replace the rear main and probally many other things if you decide to go salvage. $450 is not a bad price, mileage ok

I know would go threw it. How much dose a freshing rebuild cost on these barring there is no machine work needed?

you could always just do that work on the spare motor, that way it is already outta the car, and wouldn't be that much of a pain in the ass to get to the different parts like the alternator and timing belt.

how sure are you that it is the rear main? oil pump drive leaks in a similar area,

could you really sleep at night knowing you didn't recon the heads or maybe even port them

I was thinking about this for a spear and redoning it so if my enigne dose go I will has a back up. As for my oil leak its coming from around the inspection plate.

thats where the oil pump drive seal generally leaks too. I would at least look into that first.

Its easy - just takes a couple hours to get to it
