rockfangd
on my 94 olds cutlass supreme i have a problem very time i fill or top off my gas tank. As the fuel is being pumped into the tank it backs up the filler tube and pours out on me and all over the rear quarter panel when i dont release the lever fast enough. What could possibly cause this. Last year i changed the gas tank, fuel pump, sending unit o-ring and retainer, and the filler tube about 2 years ago. I checked underneath to see if maybe the vent line might be kinked but i couldnt find anything out of the ordinary. It pissed me off yesterday as i went to top off my tank from half and it sprayed gas on my new pants. Besides that theres nothing like having a car that reeks like gas inside and out after it pours about half gallon everywhere. Any ideas are highly appreciated
Crazy K
sounds like... it's the gas station pump and not the car to me. same place over and over??? I usually pump fuel at the lowest speed detent the pump has, which is less turbulent, vents less vapor in the air and makes for milder fuel pump shutoffs. jake91
that used to always happen at one gas station i used to go to sometimes
rockfangd
90% of the time i get my gas from the same place, so maybe that is the issue
slick
IIRC, there is a pressure sensor in the handle of the filler. Most likely, the sensor is bunk, or else you have a leak in the tank that's not allowing the pressure to ventilate properly. I'm voting faulty sensor at the gas station. rockfangd
well the tank is new, and all of the lines from the tank to the tube and to the engine, so maybe i will try a different pump
