mdelorie
She's gorgeous, and has been at the Chevy lot down my street for months... she just won't sell, primary because I just don't think anyone's interested. Anyways, she's blue, and has 70 000 under the hood on her L36. Just had the hood painted (was kinda chipped) they started out asking 13998 (cdn) I just offered them 10 500, plus my car. (234 000 kms) and they said they'd take it. I just CAN'T decide if I should go for it or not? funny thing is, I'm willing to bet I already know what you guys will say. (Go for it!!!!! ) can anyone think of why I might not want to go for it?
kiwi133
If its 70000 Km, get it. If its 70000 mi, that price is still high
kiwi133
wait, I just realized the price you gave was canadian dollars. So I have no clue now... I guess still get it.
Redfox340
Dealership, correct? Well... 10,500 CAD = 7,580 USD. Seems a little high for retail price plus the value of your car. Unfortunatly, you've agreed by their terms, so I doubt it you can re-negotiate the price. Otherwise it sounds sweet! But reminder to get a full look at it, and reminder yourself it's just car. Best of luck!!! - Erik
NOHC_WBody
can anyone think of why I might not want to go for it? In order of importance, in my book. 1. It's not an LQ1 8) 2. It's not an L67 But that's just me. Granted, I think the 1.5 Montes are a HELL of a lot more attractive than the 2nd gens.
mdelorie
yeah, 70 000 kms. thing is, I don't think my car is worth very much. I mean, it IS a 91 with 234 thou.... that's a LOT. *sigh* That would sink me into debt for a bit longer, at least. about engines though... I think the L36 is pretty nice. Rumor has it there's a lot you can add to it? :?:
Bolt_Crank
well, when my bro asked about the price of a car awhile back, he asked about monthly payments ($10k Canadian) and the guy asked my bro how much he thought his 91 GP LE was worth, he told him $2k even, and the guy said OK, without even looking at my bros car..... my bro couldn't get the Talon TSi, though, 'cuz he couldn't afford it, lol

Rumor has it there's a lot you can add to it? :?: Oh yeah... skies the limit on the 3800's. But that's another post. If you really want the MC Z34, play harball with em'. Worse case they say 'no' and you still have your car. - Erik
mdelorie
Very true... But, how far should I try to drag 'em down? 10 500 seemed pretty crazy as it was. Any guesses on what my car is WORTH? I seem to think I could get 3500 or 4 for it privately.
Bolt_Crank
well, my '93 Lumina Z34 was $5k even (after GST, and document fees.... my dad is good at haggling, they were gonna list it as $7k or so, before taxes and crap) from a dealership..... it had 160,312 km's on it at the time.... Redfox340
Very true...But, how far should I try to drag 'em down? Here's the deal: according to KBB.com a 1998 Z34 in 'good' condition is in the high $5,800 USD. So, do your homework and the more you know about the car, the leverage you have against the salesperson. - Erik
