New Shifter

The plastic slats on my floor shifter are FUBAR. I would like to put a shifter from a 99ish Grand Am or Monte. I like the T-shifter and boot. Can I swap w/out replacing the whole console?

Take off the shifter knob

Take off the top part of the console (it just pops in to place)

Then you will have access to replace just the parts you need to replace

 

However swapping grand am parts in will probably require swapping the entire console

the t-shifter you can get from a monte carlo would be a direct bolt on....the boot, i would recommend gettin from a new(er) GP, and making it fit.

I have a boot from a 97 Grand Am GT in mine and its a tad too small, so I would go with a newer GP if I were you.

This is what I have in my 1994 Cutlass Supreme. Doing it in a newer one would be really easy. The boot came off of a newer Grand Prix.
