dodgethis
Hey guys I need your opinion on this. I have just walked out of campus after studying. When I came to the car I noticed someone had opened my gas door and unscrewed the gas cap. I had got a flash light and looked down the pipe to see if maybe there was any sugar reminents in case someone had put sugar in the tank. I wouldn't really know why someone would do that to my car. I haven't pissed anyone off, just been studying my ass off. In the event that my car has been sugared or whatever, what are the symptoms and also in the event it does do you just drop the tank and clean it out or is more involved? Man this just sucks. Pontiac6KSTEAWD
It was probly someone just syphoning gas. Pretty common in the broke ass time..
5speedz34
It was probly someone just syphoning gas. Pretty common in the broke ass time.. That would be my guess. Have you checked to see if you lost any gas? Although one would think with gas as low as it is that people wouldn't siphoning these days but anything is possible. I replaced mine with a locking cap (although if someone really wants to break it they can) mostly because over time they don't seal as well and can leak gasoline vapors. Snopes ays its false and nothing will happen. But it sounds like me I've been studying my ass and not doing anything lately either. http://www.snopes.com/autos/grace/sugar.asp
jake91
mythbusters tested it once, and nothing happened. i bet it was some jerk trying to siphon gas.
GP4U2NV
It would take a large amount of surgar to cause a problem. I have seen it cause a problem. My advise is to drive it a lot and get fresh in and change the fuel filter.
Hairdo12
I believe our gas tanks have an anti siphon valve in them and it would be impossible to siphon gas out. I bought my locking gas cap seven years ago because word was spreading at UB that people were putting all kinds of crap into people's gas tanks. dodgethis
Yea I found out what happened, A buddy of mine thought it would be real cute to open the gas door and pop the gas cap off. I didn't think it was funny cuz i thought someone was messing with the car or taking gas out of it. I mean come on one is not thinking in a happy mood when walking out of campus at 2:30am. It is the last thing im worrying about if someone is messing with the car. I really don't have time for it. I have exams coming up soon, so I mean come on! ZoomZoomFan
My car has a locking gas cap because the previous owner had a full tank get siphoned out of the car while she was at work. She said when she went to leave at 5:00, the car wouldn't even start becuase there was no gas in it!

3pt1lumina
I have locking gas caps on all of my vehicles that sit outside. At work, there is a bulletin out about people drilling holes in the gas tanks of the cars on the lot and stealing the gas that way. That would suck wouldn't it?
