bumping z34 Posted October 22, 2002 Report Posted October 22, 2002 Well I like em either way. I understand what your talking about but the aluminum on that Regal doesnt destroy the appearence or effect on that car for me. I'm sure its my background of car interest since the 60's. Chrome doesnt stick out to me but I really notice lack of it as well as over use such as some cars from the 50's (awsome but extreme) Bumpers were always chrome so it doesnt look out of place to me. I disliked all excess chrome moldings except letters in the seventies when I was younger and felt only the bumpers should be chrome. So I have changed in my tastes on this. Now I like the little things when done tastefully. The wide chrome door on your Cutlass is not my preference and stands out because of bumper cover and overall width. Like I said about the white Regals huge unbroken white nose. To me it needs a little shave but something to break it up. On other matters I have no problems with opinions , cheap attitude especially from the safety of a long distance wire has proven very detrimental to rallying interest from many other owners. I thought that cheap attitude was a Ricer thing . Not really . I recognize it for what it is. Many many a good car man is leaving these web sites because of bullshit from the likes of the above poster. I bet he never contributes useful information on problem topics either. are you refuring to me i wasnt bashing i was clearly stating my thoughts on crome im sorry if i dont like crome however on some cars i do like Little crome not much just some however i do love the older era cars that where loaded with crome i mean bumpers ect that was the time when MONSTERS LIVED though show me a monster now there are none for car i mean yeah F-bodies are still around but you normally see some lady or a moron with a mullet or a stoner that lives on welfare of others (no offnace to anyone) with them then we have the imports show me one that has crome on it STOCK that looks good even the older ones had little to no crome on them for a reason, it just doesnt go with the body of these cars however there are a few exceptions yes the regal looked ok with the crome strip on it however it needed to have the dish wheel covers and a nice molding package (thanks BP) as for not posting useful info on here whats the point some one is always going to say NO NO NO craig thats not right you cant do it that way your a moron for talking even if the person is helping is RIGHT i personally have been around w-body cars for a LOOONG time I havce owned a 89 cutlass, a 90 lumina and now i own a 95 MC z34 and still have the lumina, i have driven EVERY veration of the w-body though well with the exception of one the TGP has eluded me however i have riden in one, and after having a special set of friends from LI come north to the barren white northern side of NY i changed the motor in the LUMINA and if my sister doesnt want the lumina i have a plan for it getting FULL EXTREME AUDIO SYSTEM IN IT and A 3.8L sc so i would have to ask friends to come up again for a fun time possible a headache and some pizza rolls from the pizza place i took them to last time they where up or possibl down the road for pizza logs,,,, yummy right brian lol Quote

Steve LS Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 So mullet is the old Billy Ray Cirus look or the big hair look of the pop metal era? Def leppards alright but I'd hesitate on being a Poison fan though they had a song or two. Whats the look of the true headbangers ? I didnt have my hair cut for 20 yrs. Finally had to because it was falling out and the rest was reaching for the stars like Einstein or Jim from Taxi . No shame in that - I is what I is. Didnt go to college , stayed around home and started my own business , liked Def Leppard , Sam Halen , Queensryche, Metalica, Savatage, Zeppelin, Purple, Floyd, Tull, Heep, Dio, blues, jazz, fusion and country western. I'm a real freak ey! I like european sports cars, domestic cars from the 60's/70's especially drawn toward the full size Buick/Oldsmobile coupes. Some contrast. Nice lookin girls , decent paychecks and time to spend with my family and interests. And a little bit of "chrome" ! Quote
Brian P Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 Sam Halen? lol that's a way of putting it! Dont like the days of Roth? Quote
Steve LS Posted October 23, 2002 Report Posted October 23, 2002 I was fimilar with Sammy since the first Montrose album from like 1973. His voice always sounded right to me. Old Van Halen was raw and full of energy but very basic song structure and David was so predictable and his lyrics were elementary. Sam Halen went a little deeper, further and was still plenty raw energy. Then the songs 5150 and hot summer nights have the greatest riffs around , "mine all mine" i really liked those two records 5150 OU812. Roth did some great stuff on his own too. But to me Sammy has the ultimate rock voice combine that with Eddys riffs and the more developed and grown approach of the whole band at their age at that time and I'd say they pretty much kicked butt. I know old VanHalen fans do not agree on this. But I'm an even older Sammy fan. Ever hear "Hot Sweet and Sticky" old style, simple and basic but young raw Sammy. Music was so fresh back in the day. Everybody had something that no one else tried yet. Quote
