xtremerevolution Posted March 23, 2009 Report Posted March 23, 2009 Shaft lube that is. Steering to be exact. (I know what you were thinking). My steering wheel is clunking, so I'm assuming the steering shaft dried up. How would I go about re-lubing it up? This on my 1995 Regal with 195k miles btw. Quote
Regal_GS_1989 Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 http://www.colinkraft.com/shaft.php I followed that to lube up the shaft on my GF's intrigue. Removal may be different, but the actual lube process should be the same. Quote
5speedz34 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 I posted in this? Did someone delete my post? Why?! I was under the impression the first-gen columns don't have that issue and can't be lubed. EDIT: How does that not contribute to the thread? Unless someone can come in a say otherwise or elaborate on my statement. Either way, after reading that link, I'm pretty damn sure the 88-93 (94 for Lumina's) doesn't have that sliding shaft setup. I think its a solid piece, and it might be the same way for the 94+ cars although I've never had a column out of one of those. Quote

Your original post did not contain any of the information you just posted. All it said was "I don't think our columns have this issue", which does not answer the original poster's question in any way. Quote
Crazy K Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Our Columns should not have that issue. all the gen 1 and 1.5 cars basically have the same intermediate shaft. there is a sliding joint so the shaft can change length, and that it pinned together and has a spring clip inside it, but should not be the source of an noise or problems. What other issue can it be? I her a faint clunking noise while turning my steering wheel, particularly while turning slowly as I would while getting out of a parking spot. Quote
Crazy K Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 rack bearing pre-load bolt needs adjustment? can you isolate the noise? Quote

Subframe bolts loose? Worn subframe bushings? Quote
