Regal_GS_1989
In a 1998 GP for example, bolted to an L36. How many miles should such a transmission expect to last? All depends on how the car driven, and trans maintained. I've seen some of them that will go 200 000+ miles easily, and I have seen others that fail at 40 000 miles. Granted, there may be little issues (like the pressure control solenoid) that may spring up that, if left untouched can help shorten the life of the trans. The biggest contributing factor to transmission life is maintenance, or lack of.
carkhz316
I have ~155K on the Monte. Still goin despite a finiky PCS. My 3/4-WOT 1-2 shift shudders. But obviously if I drive it normal, it's fine. All shifts are firm and quick though. I plan on bebuilding it sometime this summer after I do the 4L80-E in my truck. White93z34
it *should* last a long time. what it will last is a unknown. some go just about forever, some die a young and rapid death. From what I've seen coolers can only help. I can honestly say after the shit I've been through I don't want anything to do with another 4t65. 5speedz34
Like everyone said it all depends on how it was driven and how it was taken care for. My car has 201k on the original 4T60E. It doesn't shift like brand new but I would saying its pretty damn exceptional for 200k.
