daytonboi
I think my current engine is bout had it. I found a puddle of oil and coolant under my car and as of late the oil light comes on after idling for more than 30 seconds. A few times the oil has been low but lately it hasn't probably thanks to the coolant leaking into the engine. Also where is this car supposed to idle. Its a 96 3.1. My idle varies anywhere from 1200 down to 550-600. I know i'm probably forgetting something but I'm a lil pissed cause it seems like if it isn't one thing its another. pitzel
Very likely the lower intake manifold gaskets, and basically, the bolts coming loose because of inadequate factory torque and the lack of threadlocker on the threads. $50-$60 gets you the parts (new gasket, brake cleaner, coolant, and motor oil) to fix it right. May as well throw a new O2 sensor in there while you have it apart. Idle starts high, and is commanded lower as the engine warms up, by ECU modulation of the idle air control valve. dodgethis
....and look on the bright side if the damage is extensive even after replacing the intake manifold gaskets there are many 3100 SFI floating and even 3400's so I mean all is not lost. 1990lumina
If the low oil pressure light is coming on your engine is fucked already I wouldn't even bother repairing it. Just swap in a used one. The coolant has probably fucked the bearings all up.
