CSI_MuNkY
I have an opportunity to buy some LQ1 heads that have been built up. Ported Polished, new springs and valves included. Heads have been decked (don't know how much) I'm looking for any dimensions you can give me to confirm that said work has been done. I'm assuming the heads are based on a 1995 head design as he was also selling some early LQ1 specific parts. The guy claimed to have $1800 into them... Unfortunately I'm not dealing with the guy that did the work, I'm dealing with the guy he sold them to... I know the guy that bought them, he is a good friend, but in order to get them for myself I offered him more than he paid. I will be taking a digital verier with me to pick them up, I'm looking for any port and valve sizes I can get, along with any other measurements that will tell me they are reworked. Stock spring rates would be nice too, but I don't know if the new ones have a spring rate labeled on them. Thanks Jamie

CSI_MuNkY
I dunno who the guy was... Captain Ficho bought the parts off him. The guy was from Cambridge Ontario, apparently he was getting 13.1s out of a NA LQ1 car.Fil says its really obvious they have been ported and polished... we will see tonight when he delivers! Artemis
I have an extra set of heads you can take with you to compare with the P&P'd ones... but it would involve you coming to Toronto to pick them up.
slick
Hmm.... I forget where Kevwood was, but the heads were more than a Port and Polish. IIRC, they added material to the intake port and re-shaped it completely. If you do a search, there I remember there being a dyno graph posted, and Aaron (a banned member from here) getting his panties in a bunch because his more modified car couldn't touch the numbers. CSI_MuNkY
OK, I picked them up tonight... Tell me what I got... Based on 95 heads, how ported do they look? (mine are still in my car, I can't look) I can tell they aren't polished. Do the valves, springs and retainer clips look like anything special or stock equipment? AWeb80
they look pretty big.....I think
CSI_MuNkY
Well Ben over on 60* says the springs are stock... I'm assuming the valves are too because the valve seats are untouched. I think tomorrow I am going to see how well they line up with my 97 lower intake manifold that I picked up a week ago. Jamie
slick
Pretty sure you can't put larger valves in the LQ1 heads, not enough space to do so.
slick
Without measurements being taken, I can't really see any difference in these heads compared to other stock heads.
CSI_MuNkY
Exhaust ports are 1.835" x 1.655" Intake ports are 2.110" x 1.210" Intake Valve port is 1.260" dia Exhaust Valve port is 1.078" dia The heads have been decked, but I don't know where to measure to find out how much Jamie
GOT2B GM
I would measure total head thickness from block mounting surface to cam carrier mounting surface. That would give you a number that you can easily measure and compare to stock heads.
GOT2B GM
If all else fails, I have a set of heads off of a 92 5 spd Z34 that you can compare yours to at my parents place.
Kevwood
Guys, I've been away from these boards for something like 4 years now as I moved to Dubai and stored my Z34 back in 2006. Recently I went back to Canada and pulled the car out of storage for the first time since I moved to clean it up and sell it - I ended up falling in love with it/the project all over again. All my build pics, specs and dyno sheets are on my PC & boxes in storage in Canada but it will be moved to Dubai in July along with a slew of other things. I'm going to keep the Z34, all my motors and 284's and finish it off one of these days. In the meantime, I'll be around the boards catching up and seeing what's new out there. Long story short, when I get the head pics I'll send them via email if anyone is interested. By the way, the red Z (225whp) in the Cardomain site was written off ny a red light runner, the car I was working on (257whp) when I got transfered (too many mods to list right now) is in my sig.
