Cam'ron Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 02 GTP. We have the front bumper replaced and now it is just waiting for paint. Unfortunately on friday night the bungee cord that had held the hood for about 4 months decided to not work and the hood flipped up on my friends car and totally fucked the hood and the hinges/struts, amazingly it didnt crack the windshield but it did shatter the drivers side mirror. Question is, it looks like the bottom half of the hinges are welded as well as bolted. He ordered the new hinges today and they will be ready for pick up tomorrow. Are they just bolted or is there actually welds that need to be redone to secure the hood. Just trying to do some homework before tomorrow when we tackle installing the new hood and realigning everything. couple pics of the carnage, this was the result of a small fender bender with a new corolla and the hood which was just bent on the front and is now totally fuxxored new latch assembly and foam installed. remains of the hood after friday night. 5speedz34 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 WTF? How was the bungee cord holding these on? Quote
jimmyfloyd Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 They should just be bolted on. I believe it's 2-3 bolts. Quote
Cam'ron Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 WTF? How was the bungee cord holding these on? the front latch was bent to shit in the smack up, so he had a bungee cord holding it down, and it did a really good job you couldnt pull the hood up much at all when it was hooked up. He hit a bump and the hood caught some air and flipped up on him. Quote
runt Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 What is that red box on the front of the radiator? Quote
Cam'ron Posted March 18, 2009 Author Report Posted March 18, 2009 its the new latch mount... came from a red gtp Quote
carkhz316 Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 I know on the lumi's and Montes that on the half of the hinge that attaches to the fender, it is also spot welded to the fender also. So, you'll either have to chisel/ grind it off somehow, or the correct way to go about it would be to drill out the spot welds, preferably with a spot-weld drill bit. Quote
Crazy K Posted March 18, 2009 Report Posted March 18, 2009 spot welded. you can drill them out though. Quote
