3100 intake manifold gaskets

Hello everyone I just purchased a 2000 chevy lumina 3100 v6.

I was told that it is losing coolant internally, (supposedly) so i checked the oil and there is nothing in the oil, The antifreeze doesnt look oily but it does look nasty. She stated that she got 3 mechanics opinions and all 3 stated that the intake manifold gaskets are bad.. I will be picking the car up in the morning.

she stated that it never overheated but it would say low coolant and she put about 1 gallon in throughout the last month before she parked it.

Is there any way to know for sure what is wrong with it. It runs fine besides the coolant loss, and she also stated she lost heat.

Thanks for any input

If it's losing coolant and it's not visible anywhere outside, than it's more than likely the intake gaskets failing. Look in the oil fill hole in the valve cover. Often times, if the leak isn't horrible yet, you'll still see a little milky sludge in the valve cover.

Just cuz you loose coolant over time doesnt mean its the gaskets. I loose coolant, but its being lost by the WP gasket. theres no visiable leak either. But on the other hand it never hurts to change them.

Pics man, got any

I will probably post pics wednsday. We are picking up the car tuesday morning. I hope that it is the intake manifold gaskets, I have never done them before but when i pull everything apart i am going to do the water pump, thermostat, intake gaskets, (looks like the felpro gasket set has the intake gaskets and the intake manifold gaskets, and a plus the valve cover gaskets). I am going to go over it good tomorrow

This may be of assistance, if you haven't replaced the gaskets before.

Also, i'm not sure why all the images a blackened. Alldata must not like printing as a PDF.

well i came home from work tonight to see about a pint of antifreeze from what i believe to be from around the driver side, almost near the radiator. I pulled the oil cap and saw no sludge on the cap or in the crankcase. maybe this could help some. I am also going to pressure test the system in the morning

Thats interesting about the interrior though. I mean where the arm rest are, your are already pulled off from the door. Mine are already wanting to be pullled off. I think ill glue them back on or just replace them. The interrior looks just like mine but i have the gold champagne color as you can see on my avatar.
