Thermostat issues

Well, just did th thermostat today, and whatever asshole did it last time managed to fuck up the thread pretty bad on one of the bolt holes...

When I went to put it back in it never tightened, son of a bitch!!!!!!

So i went and got a bolt that is a little longer to grab the threads in the bottom, but I am very weary about how long that will hold. I tightened it to the torque spec but I would really like to figure out how to fix the problem for good... anybody else have this problem ever and need to fix it?

If you torqued the bolt down and it grabbed at the bottom just leave it alone. The more you mess around trying to fix the threads the more you'll end up ruining what's left. If it's tight just leave it.
