spiderw31
I was trying to install the timing belt tensioner actuator, and I noticed that the new one I've got did not come with a new brass bushing. So I went to transfer the bushing to the new actuator, and I got it off the old actuator. While trying to get it onto the new actuator though, I managed to crack it I've tried to locate a replacement locally with no luck. Does anyone know the part number for this thing so that I can just order a replacement? Better yet, does anyone think that it might be something that Napa might carry? I wasn't able to check with them, as they close at 3:00 on Saturdays This is the straight bushing BTW, and not the tapered one...

White93z34
I just checked the Lq1 section of my lumina parts manual and according to it that bushing is not a individual part. I'd say either the acutator you got is missing that bushing or it is designed not to have one now, but without seeing a picture of it it is tough to say. Where did you get the new actuator? spiderw31
I ordered the actuator from monsterpartsonline.com It's pretty obvious that the bushing is needed, as without it the actuator would pretty much just flop around loose on its pivot. I wonder if the bushing is supposed to be part of the mounting plate? Regardless, it looks like a relatively standard brass oilite bushing, so I'm hoping that I can find one. Its very frustrating to be held up for want of such a small / inexpensive part. Thanks for the help so far, BTW
spiderw31
OK, according to the local Pontiac dealer, the bushing in question only comes with the plate. The plate is $12, and the dealer should have it by tomorrow.
White93z34
ah. that would better explain it. Its been 2-3 years since I had my timing set torn down last so I was not totally sure about it.

spiderw31
Whats odd is how firmly it was stuck to the actuator vs. how easily it came out of the plate. Kinda makes me wonder if there wasn't something out of whack before I cracked it Now, if the new bushing is just as snug, whats the best way to get it onto the actuator? I now know that gently tapping it on with a hard rubber mallet is bad so I'm not gonna try that way again. I was thinking of putting the pushing in the plate, placing the plate over the actuator, and using a c-clamp to press it on. Does this sound like a good way to do it?
