what is this sensor?

That plug has nothing to do with the oil. Not a rectangular 4 wire plug. oil pressure for the gauge is 4 wire, but its not rectangular. the oil pressure for the light is a single wire. check the compressor.

lol well it didnt work before it broke, it actually physically broke like that in my efforts to remove the tranny and other crap... lol and yes I was talking about the sensor that screws to the block, not the random wires that just happened to hop in for a photo op

ya, but it still didn't work...lol I think I remember you telling me that it may have grounded out somewhere, cuz it was always pegged... lol

Yeah the pressure gauge was always pegged out when I had it, so I plugged in my spare cluster with it idling and it pegged out the known good cluster as well.. Then I decided to buy a new pressure sender, popped it in, and voila it didn't do a thing! :lol:

ya, well hopefully I can get it running again soon in the next week or so and get to 300... :P but the whole tranny thing is really kicking my ass at the moment.

It was pegged probably because it was the wrong sensor. Probably had a switch in there and not the sending unit. The idiot light switch is short and the sensor one is longer... looking at the picture, the one in there is very short so that is what I would expect has been the problem.

Nope, the stock sensor didn't work, and I replaced it with TWO different units, the gauge never worked. I'm thinking there is a bad ground somewhere.

well I will have a chance to inspect all the wires, cuz since I gota pull the tranny AGAIN, I am pullin everything through the top this time, way too much of a PITA to pull it from the side...

My oil pressure sending unit is bad, I think. The oil pressure usually reads really high, and when it's cold, the guage just dances around, lol. If redlined, the oil pressure pegs around 100 or more PSI.
