2002ls1z
I replaced my trans PCS solenoid, flushed the trans, replaced the filter and 1 week later the rough shifting has started again. The Trans Go kit claims to prevent long shifts and prevents the p1811 code. Anyone tried this shift kit? How much should it cost to have installed? Is it as simple as dropping the pan? I don't work on cars, so i'll be taking it somewhere for this.
Andrew
i must say i am a fan of fixing a car to its properly running state before modding. there has to be a reason for the rough shifting, and throwing a/m parts at it likely isnt going to fix it. so what do you mean when you say a rough shift? When in a lot of stop and go driving, It intermittently shifts rough and continues to, until the car is turned off. I can start the car 1 minute later and the problem is gone. The problem is intermittent. I thought replacing the Pressure control solenoid would cure the problem (as GM's bulletin states). However, after a week of driving the problem has resurfaced. It may shift harshly for a few times the same day OR it may start again a week later.. It has to do with code p1811. Evidently, my trans is not shifting as fast as it should (99k miles) and short a replacing a transmission (this is my beater car), the shift kit from Trans Go is supposed to prevent the P1811 code by quickening the shift time. It's a common problem with 4t65-e trannys, i've heard.
axisofjustice9c3
You seem sure of yourself enough. You don't need any advice it seems. Give it a go, report back with results. I'm pondering that kit.
2002ls1z
You seem sure of yourself enough. You don't need any advice it seems. Give it a go, report back with results. I'm pondering that kit. Well I went ahead with trying to fix the problem the correct (ie expensive) way by replacing the PCS. It looks like the tranny isn't shifting fast enough and the computer is telling it to apply additional pressure to compensate for it. I might add, that the transmission itself shifts great, doesn't slip or anything until this code is trigered. It's strange b/c the last time my car was in the shop for LIM replacement, it didn't act up for a week or so. It looks like the temporary "fix" is to disconnect the battery for a few hours to clear the ecm of this code. It seems to work for about a week or more...Hopefully this kit will work. Are you having the same issue?
axisofjustice9c3
Nope, just want a shift kit and can't find much for opinions on this kit. Have you changed your filter? a cheap filter can screw with all sorts of stuff. I also would say that you don't need a performance shift kit for this issue, the basic kit that has the springs and spacers should fix you up. Ford electronic transmissions have an issue like this and the actual fix is a shift kit like the one I suggest, I am pretty sure this may help your issue, it is exactly what the kit is for. http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=570&catid=
Regal_GS_1989
Sounds like either a defective part that was installed, or possibly that the shop didn't actually replace the solenoid(hopefully not, but I have seen cases...) I would check with the shop that worked on it. If it is a defective part, it is possible that there may be some kind of warranty that will have you covered. I would check with the shop that worked on it. If it is a defective part, it is possible that there may be some kind of warranty that will have you covered. They installed the part for sure. Trust me, I dropped by and saw what they had to remove, just to install that part. I also asked for the old part back. They've done this service many times before they said and are familiar with this issue. When I get my car repaired, they let me buy the parts(I work for a parts distributor and get great deals on parts), plus a 10% labor discount at that service center. Hopefully, the shift kit will solve this issue. The car is my beater after all and I don't feel like shelling out $2k for a new trans. Thanks for the info on the zzp kit!
