webxfx
Like the titles says - are the 3.4L Sedans a rare find? And did any of the sedans ever have an option of a Standard Trans?
ManicMechanic
Uncommon, but not rare. And yes, they did offer a 5 speed in the GP SEs and STEs. Now those ARE rare.
5speedz34
I've probably seen more 94-96 GT's than I have STE's with the 3.4. Most STE's I see are 3.1 cars.
jimmyfloyd
How rare would a LQ1 Cutlass Sedan with a 5 speed be?
slick
How rare would a LQ1 Cutlass Sedan with a 5 speed be? There is a production breakdown, I think in the General section. IIRC, pretty low numbers. There is a CS Sedan, LQ1 5 speed running around here in Toledo, OH. Supposidly it is in pretty damn nice shape. EDIT: Went through and found some info. Just got back from the parts store. After telling the counter guy what type of car I was getting parts for, he said he has only seen 1 other TGP. He then started telling me about his friend, who just happens to have another rare W. He has a 1994 CS International Sedan, Gold, 3.4 5 speed, HUD, digital climate control. He was telling me about how that car reallys moves pretty well, then went on to say that he had just had the alternator replaced. I told him I was able to do it in 45 minutes, and his jaw about hit the floor lol. Now that I think about it, it had to of been a '93. IIRC, after '94, manual and International wasn't an option, correct? Not as broken down as some others, but heres all the Cutty #s: '88 Base- 46448 SL- 31131 I series- 17144 '89 Base- 49895 SL- 32015 I-series- 18116 '90 Base 2DR- 15848 Base 4DR- 47043 Vert- 494  SL 2DR- 10076 SL 4DR- 32798 I series 2DR- 5602 I series 4DR- 7474 '91 Base 2DR- 16766 Base 4DR- 52241 Vert- 1515 SL 2DR- 4253 SL 4DR- 15653 I series 2DR- 2304 I series 4DR- 7357 '92 Vert- 4306 S 2DR- 20700 S 4DR- 63692 I series 2DR- 1181 I series 4DR- 2066 '93 Vert- 6751 S 2DR- 23544 S 4DR- 51678 I series 2DR- 395  I series 4DR- 645 '94 Vert- 8638 S 2DR- 35757 S 4DR- 77861 '95 Vert- 4490 SL 2DR- 24809 SL 4DR- 83933 '96 No breakdown provided by GM- 86613 total 2dr and 4dr '97 SL 2DR- 10197 SL 4DR- 49327
Breakdown
The STE's are very rare, as in 1,000-2,000 per year to my understanding the GT Sedans, are no where close to rare. In 1991-1993, Pontiac had trim lines of LE, SE, STE, and I'm thinking one more than I'm forgetting (not GTP), it was really convoluted and as previously mentioned the STE's were pretty much loaded with just about every option. Afterwards, they simplified everything in 1994, all sedans or coupes were SE's, then if you had the 3.4 they were a GT (Sedan) or GTP (Coupe). The GT's got some body cladding and bumper treatment - I think dual exhaust as well, but not as obvious as the GTP. I think that from 1994-96 they would run around 5,000+ a year. grandprixnyc
I had a '95 GT sedan at one point in time. It wasn't rare, but was a little more uncommon than the standard fair sedans.

slick
and standards stoped in 93 right? Yes, only auto's after 1994.
TGP Z-34 STE
I own 1991 Grand Prix STE with 3.4 DOHC n Getrag 284 manual. Have HUD but no sunroof n leather. I was told only 125 made for 3.4 with manual in STE for that year. Body is kinda of beat up but no rust yet. My plan is take motor n tranny out of car n swap in TGP, my friend suggest me to restored it instead. cuz of RARE!
